http://www.comicvine.com/news/jason-aaron-reveals-plans-to-leave-wolverine/144007/ It seems Jason Aaron is leaving Wolverine shortly after his new Japan story arc. Whether this means he is still going to work on Wolverine and The X-Men remains to be seen. I for one am hoping that Jeph Loeb is not going to take the helm after Aaron's departure. |

How many issues in this "arc?" The article doesn't say. I haven't liked everything Aaron's done, but he's been better than Way, certainly, and has had new things to say about Logan. I wouldn't mind seeing Rucka on the character again, but he seems content doing PunisherMAX, and may have written all he intended to write about Logan. Who would you like to see take on Wolverine? |

Aaron is staying on WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN for the foreseeable future.
I'm pretty sure Loeb will. If not, he will at least be on a Wolverine mini. Bringing back Sabretooth. Yeah, because fans were just clamouring for more Loeb WOLVERINE after the success of 'Evolution'...
I think it ends with #303.
I loved Rucka's WOLVERINE, but I'd like a fresh voice on the book. That said, if Larry Hama or Rucka were to get the reins I'd be doing cartwheels around the room. I desperately want Rucka to do at least an issue of PUNISHER featuring Wolverine.
I like to see Zeb Wells... but I think it will be Brian Michael Bendis, which I wouldn't mind at all. |

"Who would you like to see take on Wolverine? " Personally I enjoyed Aaron's run and I am sad to seem him go. That aside I would prefer if Rick Remender picked up the story and went with it. Especially since him and Aaron have mutual respect for one another, I feel he would keep true to the character and continue to bring something new to the table. My second choice would be Christopher Yost. "I like to see Zeb Wells... but I think it will be Brian Michael Bendis, which I wouldn't mind at all." Bendis would be a pretty interesting choice. Is he leaving the Marvel Universe after his Avengers run? Or is he just leaving the Avengers books ? "I desperately want Rucka to do at least an issue of PUNISHER featuring Wolverine" Funny. I never heard of Rucka before. I am not being sarcastic either, I guess I just haven't been following the Punisher long enough? |

He'll be sticking about I'm sure. He's still one of Marvel's 'architects'.
Rucka's only been writing PUNISHER for the last six issues. Are you sure you don't know his work? Writer of the first nineteen issues of WOLVERINE Vol. 3 collected as 'Brotherhood', 'Coyote Crossing' and 'Return of the Native'. If you haven't read his stuff there is a WOLVERINE BY GREG RUCKA ULTIMATE COLLECTION TPB out this month. Highly recommended. |

Rucka also wrote "Elektra & Wolverine:The Redeemer," an illustrated novel: 4.0 out of 5 stars Story/art not a good match, November 29, 2011 By silverthorne "PDA" (NOLA) - See all my reviewsAmazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Elektra & Wolverine: The Redeemer (Hardcover) The story, centering on assassin Elektra's bonding with a young girl she's kidnapped after the girl witnessed her murdering the girl's father, and Wolverine's interaction with the girl's mother and Elektra while on the hunt for the elusive pair, are at the heart of this Greg Rucka story. Oddly enough, the girl wants to be like Elektra, and Elektra recognizes her young self in the girl. Wolverine wants to be left alone, but is forced into acting as a bodyguard by a man who claims to know about his past which Logan, of course, cannot remember. Do the mother and the murdered father figure in that past in some way? Will Elektra take on the girl as a protégé? I found the story very entertaining, and am glad I bought this in the hardcover edition. While the artist is certainly acclaimed and the art is by turns ethereal and eye-popping, I did not feel that his work here worked well with the story. However, his work reminds me of a favorite illustrator I enjoyed in my childhood - Louis Slobodkin - in its sometimes delicate, watercolor palette. The artist clearly enjoys depicting Elektra in lots of dramatic poses, but Wolverine is usually only a dark blob - a street thug with messy hair. In many of Wolverine's pictures here, the artist didn't even bother to include the character's signature muttonchops. Also, other than their clothing, the three main female characters - Elektra, the girl, and the girl's mother - all look alike. It would be interesting to see how another artist such as Kent Williams or Gabriel Dell'Otto might have handled this assignment. |

Personally, I'd like Wells or Yost/Craig Kyle since they have done my favorite stories in the past couple of years. Though honestly, a new writer with a fresh take might be the best option. |

I did enjoy his Native story arc, I wouldn't mind seeing what else he could do with Wolverine. Thanks for reminding me. "Though honestly, a new writer with a fresh take might be the best option." I am cool with a new writer, as long as Marvel would let the writer stay one for twenty or thirty issues. In my opinion the second volume had way too many different writers bouncing around and taking turns writing Logan. I kept wising someone would write a consistent story that wasn't a one shot write off. I think the only story in volume 2 that had any impact on his character was the Enemy of State story arc right? |

There were probably a few others scattered around but for the most part all of the Wolverine solo stuff hasn't been reflected in the greater world of Marvel and the X-Men. It's only when Aaron starting doing other stories in the X-verse that we really saw it. |
