Past Present In Route To Ka-Zar’s Court 1535 Hours “Why are we walking again?” asked “Pyro”, the young man in the slightly singed orange jumpsuit. The group moved slowly, but determinedly through the thick brush, with the seemingly amphibious “Toad” (“If’n you ‘ad a name like Mortimer (though he pronounced it More-Timer), you’d find somfink else ta be called too.”), and the corpulent “Blob”, who wielded a pair of machetes with surprising dexterity, considering his size. “Superpowers, hothead. Don’t have them anymore, remember?” replied the man in silvery armor, “Avalanche” or Dom, as Hank had heard him referred to. “Oh. Right.” the man in orange muttered. “Do cars count as superpowers down here, because I’m pretty sure I can get us a sweet deal on a couple of decommissioned HumVees. I know a guy in Brasil that-” “Quiet, please. I’m trying to ignore you.” said the woman with the tattoo, who Hank had learned was called Psylocke (or Betsy if you had a death wish, as apparently Remy did). “Awww, come now, ma petit Lisette. You know you love our witty repartee.” Remy chuckled , moving up to put an arm around her waist. “Love it like another hole in my head.” she replied, shoving him away with an annoyed glare. “Oh, ma belle, if you were one for piercings, Remy would steal you de biggest diamonds you ever did see and have made for you rings to decorate whichever lovely body parts you wished.” he said, grinning lasciviously as he stumbled away, barely keeping his feet. “And that right there is as close as you’ll ever get to any of my lovely body parts. If you value your own, you’ll keep your hands to yourself.” she said, placing a hand on the scabbard of her sword. Hank just sighed and shook his head and dropped down from the treetops where he’d been swinging. “You people are much more interesting than my normal crowd.” he muttered. “Aw’ right, people. Time f’r a little break. Rest ya toes while ya go’ the chance.” called back Toad, who came towards the group, riding atop Blob’s shoulder. Muttered complaints about how the rest was too long in coming rumbled through the group as they all paused, drinking whatever water they had on them. Hank couldn’t help but notice that even with all the flirting he did, Remy still took off his long overcoat and laid it down for Rogue to sit down on. “Fascinating.” Hank muttered. She flexed her hands, aching to just have an opponent to turn her attention towards. It’d been far too long since she’d had a decent fight. “I grow weary of these little games, Eric. I’m not a fan of your machinations against the X-Men.” she said, softly, so that her voice wouldn’t carry. “I just want to go home. I’m tired of adventuring. Please don’t ask me to do this.” “Elisabeth, you shouldn’t mistake this as a request. I’m not asking. I’m telling.” the older man said, impatiently pushing his hair back out of his face. “You will do this for me, and then we will be even.” They walked on in silence for a few moments while Betsy stewed. “Fine. But I don’t have to like it, and I don’t have to make nice with the locals.” she said. “Ugh. I can’t believe I’m going back to a boarding school.” |

Okay, so I have internets at home now. It's super awesome lightning fast, so that makes me happy. I'm at work today, so I should have time to write, barring any unforeseen catastrophes. |
