Wolverine's swimming ability

So I was reading Wolverine 16, and the only person's comment who Wolverine agrees with is Namor, who says Wolverine's a terrible swimmer.
But in X Men 7, we see Wolverine swimming in a river (I think) in full body armour, holding on to a corpse (Janet).

As anyone whose tried it will know, swimming in clothes is difficult enough even if you are a good swimmer. Don't want to think about it in armour. So evidently at one point in his life Logan was an O.K. swimmer at least. So what do people think?

Is Logan's 'lack' of swimming ability a side effect of the Adamantium bonding or are there other factors at play?

I always thought swimming would be very difficult for him because of all the added extra weight of the adamantium. He certainly wouldn't be very buoyant. In Aaron's "Adamantium Men" (#5, I think), Logan remarks how he is actually afraid of large bodies of water, and that he feels he could easily die by drowning.

Yet, in "Enemy of the State," there's that memorable scene of him gutting sharks under water after he blew up and sunk a huge SHIELD ship out in the ocean.

As in most things about Logan, I guess it depends on who's writing him.

I think by Namor's standards, Wolverine is a terrible swimmer. But in general, Wolverine is a pretty skilled swimmer, as least good enough to swim and fight with extra weight on his bones.

If Logan drowned and experienced brain-death, there's no way he could be revived, right? His healing factor couldn't save him.

Good question. It was able to repair a lot of the damage that Weapon X did to him when they were trying to control him, so maybe?

Plus I think he has just about no body fat. So he wouldn't float very well.

I have been wondering and wanting to post somewherehere, who Janet is, and what issues she was in, what one was she killed by Logan. I know nothing about Janet.

I have also recently found a picture of Logan in Heather's cabin, tied down to a bed, presumably when he was found by her and James in the wild after escaping from weapon x. That's another one I would like to find, I need the issue and number. I really want to get aquainted with these older stories. Kind of a comic book newbie here, sorry to say.

I hope someone here will know that, also. I'm guessing it might have been in one of the early issues of "Alpha Flight," but I'm not sure.

Hey, WolvieRules, have a look at this chapter in the chronology:

I think you'll get a lot of your answers through DiG's chronology, and it's great reading all on its own! Enjoy!!

Actually it's in Alpha Flight 33, when Heather goes looking for Logan to help her train.

Should I be worried I seem to have taken over Templedog's role?
