Logerine - "I wish this place was more active. "

I agree, Logerine. It seems to be active enough with fanfiction, but very little else. For instance, there seems to be almost no discussion at all of current Wolverine comics or storylines; a situation I find rather odd on a board devoted to Wolverine. I visit from time to time, to see what's being discussed, or if I have a question, or if I can help answer a question (a rare occurrence!). I often hope to find some discussion of what's going on now in the comics (since I'm not a regular comics buyer), and find out what knowledgeable readers like or don't like in the current Wolverine world - but in vain! I don't know why this is, but it is.

Of course, everyone has a real life and a lack of time to give to this, but the Forum just seems to have shrunk to a very few folks. Anyway, that's my 2-cents-worth...

I have a Wolverine question, if anyone can help. In the Aaron "Wolverine vs the X-Men" (forget which issue, probably 7) when Logan retreats to the inner chambers of his mind to fight off the demons possessing him, he opens a series of doors which release various former versions of himself. I recognize nearly all of them except one - he's wearing a cowboy hat with a bandanna over his face, and is aiming two six-shooters like some Old West gunslinger. Who is this incarnation of Logan and what story arc does this guy appear in?

Thanks.

Plays Logan on TV!
Oh! I know! It's the "Wolverine is a cowboy" arc in "Wolverine the Cowboy".

Honestly, I've got no idea. Sorries.

As for it being quiet, activity has died down, but then it always does this time of year. School, plus the impending holiday season, and just regular real life stuff seems to slow boards like this down during the fall and winter months.

To be honest, it seems it's kinda of dead year around, not just seasonal. I wish this site was more active, but it isn't. Sorry I can't answer your question, PDA. I just don't know. I posted a question about Mystique yesterday concerning the first time she is called Mystique in comics. I don't hold a lot of hope for getting an answer. Maybe I can try asking Wolverine Files on facebook.

Good luck finding your answer, PDA.

I think it might be from his time in Mexico (before he meets Mystiques), or his time in the Spanish Civil War, or possibly When he's running whisky during Prohibition (http://www.wolverinefiles.com/007-the-roaring-twenties/). However having not yet read the issue I can't say for sure. I'll get back to you on that.

as for lack activity...sorry guys I can only repeat what LoganActor said. Real life is a bit of a bitch at the moment. (pardon my French).

Oh and Logerine, I'm still do research into your question. Give me some time

I also wish that we were discussing the new issues. Would love to talk about the split between Scott and Logan in Schism, and what everybody thinks about Logan leading at the school now.

About the lack of activity here, I have to agree more with Logerine's point of view - "To be honest, it seems it's kinda of dead year around, not just seasonal." and WolvieRules' - "I also wish that we were discussing the new issues." It seems that a lot of people that once were core contributors are gone, and just a very few folks are here, mostly as fanfic writers.

With that said...thanks, Cat, for your help on my question. It just seemed that this was some iconic image of Logan, presented in this issue along with other iconic images (like Weapon X and Patch and Emilio Garra and young James Howlett), and would have been instantly recognizable to long-time readers.

Logerine, Cat addressed your question about first use of the name Mystique. I also checked my copy of "The Marvel Encyclopaedia," which was not very helpful regarding your specific question. It may take going through several issues to get to the answer.

WolvieRules, I'd rather see Logan leading a Black Ops team than trying to be a "Professor Xavier" at a new school for mutants named for his unrequited love, Jean Grey. I just don't really see him being a school headmaster for very long. Or, at least, that direction for him doesn't really appeal to me very much. Back in the '50s or early '60s, there was an old Charlton Heston movie where his character, a battle-hardened commander, becomes the headmaster of a boys' military academy...hilarity, hijinks, and heartwarming "awwwww" moments ensue...not one of Heston's better efforts overall. But that's kinda what this situation brings to my mind.

There wasn't much discussion here of any of the recent Wolverine events in the comics. I don't know if folks haven't read these issues yet or don't receive them. I don't; that's one reason I was kinda hoping for some discussion here from those who do read them. It appears that occasionally, someone will start a comic-themed topic, but most often, it doesn't go anywhere.

A new school named for his unrequitted love Jean Grey? You know some info that I do not! Well, I totally agree that Logan being a leader of a school isn't what I want Logan to do, and I don't really think he wants it either, deep down. He just isn't the leader type. It doesn't sound too interesting at this point but maybe we will be surprised. I like Idie, and all the new young mutants. I am intrigued at how the X Men decided who to stay or go with, and why. Hate that Kitty and Pete split, was surprised that Emma considered even for a moment leaving Scott.
I want to see what Logan does. How he does. How the new kids relate to him. They seemed apprehensive, even a little afraid of him when he came up to them bristling with arrows and ninja stars!
And then there's Quentin Quire, why was he taken along, Logan can't stand the guy!

Thanks to DiG's posting links to previews of upcoming comics and reviews of new releases from CBR on his main "Wolverine Files" page. I check those out religiously...you can, too! It's a great way to pick up on what's coming.
