As anyone that has read my posts on the board know one of the the battles that I would like to see is Wolverine vs. Batman. I am a huge Batman fan and actually think that he could beat Logan. Most of this is based on the fact that we have seen in past comics that Bruce does his homework and devises ways to beat his opponent that are just wicked and down-right mean. Another factor is I think that Logan has a certain amount of arrogance regarding his own fighting abilities and survivability. Now this not entirely unfounded because Logan does have considerable fighting abilities, but he often charges into a situation like a raging bull just slashing away, and sometimes he has been shocked when he gets beaten. Then after the initial encounter is when Logan gets sneaky and brutal and that is how he wins. Logan basically underestimates his opponents when it is someone he has not encountered before. So back to my original point is Logan would probably go after Batman like he does any opponent trusting that surprise, his fighting skill and his healing factor will help him succeed. Bruce will have probably done his homework on Logan and will know how to beat him. Logan will probably barge in claws first and spring the trap and get knocked on his ass. Of course then the "kit-gloves" will come off and Logan will be pissed off and will get sneaky and keep coming after Bruce again and again until he gets to him. This will however be no easy task because Batman is the best tactician, this side of Captain America and will lead Wolverine on a whirl-wind chase. Of couse I will also be he first to admit that Batman is also very arrogant. He often views lesser heroes with disdain and the contemptuous attitude that they have no right trying to fight crime because they do not possess his knowledge or skill. |

Well if Batman knows enough to do his research then Wolverine should as well. Assuming they simply run into each other on the street, Wolverine wins easily. If it's a trap that is a whole different scenario. |

I think it would depend on circumstances, as Wolverine has been shown on many occasions to be an excellent tactian and stragic thinker. In a fight between, say the Avengers and the JLA, or as result of an encounter on patrol, then you might be right. However if Wolverine delibrately went after batman...I think it would be more likely that Wolverine would emerge the victor. Spoiler: click to toggle

See I think of it differently. I think that Batman/Bruce has files on every superhero and super-villain/criminal that appears in the media because he just is that paranoid. I am not saying that Logan would not research a foe, but I do not he would do it initially without a reason. Like I said before during a first meeting Bruce would probably hand Logan his ass, especially if Bruce was going after him for a specific purpose. Edited by Templedog, Feb 4 2011, 08:55 PM.

I am not disagreeing with you that Logan is an excellent tactician and strategic thinker because he really is. However when Logan faces a brand new foe that he has never encountered before he mostly just hacks and slashes his way in. This is an especially common occurrence with the way that marvel writers are depicting him the last few years. It is only after the initial meeting when Logan realizes that his typical tactics will not work that he starts getting inventive and sneaky. |

I agree that Logan would eventually be able to get to Bruce and defeat him, but I do think that it cost him dearly because Bruce would most likely inflict insane amounts of damage on Logan in the process. |

Damage that Logan can come back from. Any damage Logan inflicts is there to stay with Bruce, if he survives at all. |

Like I have said before I doubt Bruce would let Logan get close enough to cause him any physical harm. If Logan was able to get within striking distance Bruce would be done for. |

I've had this issue of Amazing Heroes Magazine 178 since I bought it at my local comic shop when I was a wee lad. It's been a dream to see a crossover series with these two great characters of comicdom.

Well yes I would think that Batman would have files on any hero running around in his universe. But Wolverine is not from there, we've seen that in the various cross overs. Not like he can really research someone that is unknown to him (or basically so. Not much was shown during the last cross over despite Batman and Wolverine merging.). |
