This has always been my favorite X-Men promo ad. I think this ad was my first exposure to the X-Men ever. It is kind of mysterious and does not really explain who they are.

I wish it was bigger and clearer.

Yes even afterwards. It took a little while to catch on and it was under a lot of scrutiny since it was a relaunch of a failed title.

They had basically written off the title when Claremont came on board. He was a kid then in the industry, he had only written one title before it and even then only for a year or so. It was basically a shot in the dark to get something going and I don't think anyone really expected it to work that well. After all, this was the mid-70s and everything was starting to become in flux in the comics world.

And now it is pretty much Marvel's flagship title(s), other than Spiderman.

Yeah and the Avengers are coming back but it is the longest running title in Marvel that has never been rebooted or renumbered. It got to 500 the hard way.

Will someone give me a history lesson on the earliest Wolverine Ads? Was there any Wolverine promo art published prior to Incredible Hulk 180? How about directly after the publication of 180? Where was it published? How does one go about locating original copies of it?

Thanks!!!!
