Okay, so I need to rant for a minute... So, I was watching Fox News this morning (the "Fox & Friends" program, specifically), and they did a bit about the Mosque (or mosque, since I'm not sure if that gets capitalized) that's been approved to be built 600 feet from where Tower One of the World Trade Center fell on September 11, 2001. They had this guest speaker, a Mister Brown, on to discuss the protest/rally he was holding against the mosque. He talked about how it's an insult to every American who died in the terrorist attacks, and how the Muslim religion "is peace and terror, and that's what they don't tell you". Seriously, dude? Are you that effing dense? How many Muslim Americans get up every morning, and DON'T commit a terrorist attack? How many throughout the world? You can't hold them all accountable for the actions of a very, very few. At the debate meeting on May 25, 2010 where community leaders voted on supporting the mosque, retired FDNY Deputy Chief Al Santora said "I do have a problem with having a mosque on top of the site where [terrorists] can gloat about what they did,". Again, seriously, dude? It's not like every mosque ever in the world welcomes any terrorist in off the street. They're just like our churches. Places to worship the invisible fella in the sky that you talk to. Just because their invisible man in the sky is different from yours doesn't make them evil. That kind of thinking is well and truly medieval, and belongs back in Jerusalem in 1099. Go hang out with Godfroi de Bouillion. Sheesh. *sigh* I'm so disgusted with some (not all) of my countrymen sometimes. I totally get why the rest of the world hates us. And I'm done hollering. |

To that Brown fella I have one word for you, Crusades, shut the fuck up and do something useful with your time. Your bound to have this white ass republican jerk who thinks if one individual of category B does something bad, everyone from category B is evil. Not all muslims are bad, my GF even has one as a friend and he's a nice bloke and even says 'Have good Christmas' or 'Have a Good easter' and not forcing anyone to do it his way. I just hate humanity...We'll end up killing each other sooner or later. |

Most Mosques, certainly here in the UK, are very against allowing fantics to preach within them. It helps no one if they kill your young people. I have serveral friends who are Muslims, and I'm a christain. Neither of us attempt to force our beliefs on each other, and we adapt around each other (e.g. If I'm cooking for them I don't use pork or milk sauces or shell fish) I think a mosque on the world Trade centre site is actually a good thing. Shows that the war is against terror (which is what the politians have been telling us all along) and not against Islam. Also acts a promise of peace and of this never happening again in the future. And Loganactor, a quote for you "98% of Americans are O.K." and everyone has the 2% crazies who we normally elected. Edited by Cat, Jun 7 2010, 01:56 AM.

The main thing that really ticked me off after the 9/11 attacks was so many people I knew wanted to make it a national holiday in rememberance of the people who died that day. Umm...no. If you are going to make that day an official holiday then make it a day of rememberance for ALL the people you have ever died in terrorists attacks, and not just for Americans...but for every person worldwide that has died due to terrorism. I was so appalled when I heard someone mention making 9/11 a rememberance holiday as if the the people in the world trade center disaster were more important than the people who died in the Oklahoma City bombing or all the others that die each year because of terrorism. |
