Wolverine and Jim Steranko

Has Jim Steranko ever worked on a Wolverine title?

I think it would be neat to have do a Wolverine one-shot or mini series based on Wolverine's time as a secret agent. I always loved Steranko's artwork on Nick Fury back in the 60s and 70s.

I second the call of this (Providing Way is not allowed anywhere near it).
There's still a lot of Wolverine's history that we don't know about, and his time in the Secret services is one of the big ones. That plus, I admit it, I love Nick Fury and Wolverine together.

I would also be in support of a full blown WWII story involving the Invaders, Major Mapleleaf and Logan.

It would nice to see a Nick Fury Howling and the Howling Commandos story told. I know that they had a cameo of sorts in origins, but I want to see more.

Cat, you and I must be the only Invaders fans on the board.

In regards to a Wolverine story by Steranko, it could be take place right before Logan is kidnapped by weapon X. I am not sure, but has the story of Logan's last mission before he was kidnapped by Weapon X been told? I would like to see the mission that broke him.

Errr. Nope, nearest was Logan Shadow Society and that's implied to be at least a few months before hand (if no other reason that Logan is vaguely functioning.) I just want an explaination for what happened to the firing range tech. It would be good if it was recon that the incident was set up by Weapon X to make it easier for him to grab him.

I have no idea why no one else likes the Invaders. A seriously cool team. Still, there's supposed to be a new Invaders mini series soon, so maybe we can convince others of the greatness of this team.

Would definately love to see the Howling Commandoes working properly with Nick (something like in X Men forever, the main reason I got interested in that series and am prepared to forgive them killing Wolverine) and the idea of Logan and Invaders....goes to happy place.

Personally i'm suprised Logan wasn't made a member of the Invaders, you would think someone who cant die would be part of a all out superhuman team?

Logan's mutation isn't obivious, unlike Toro's and so no one, Logan included probably realised that there was anything going on. Also a man who can't die would be incredibly useful in intelligence, and Logan's record of playing well with others isn't great at that point.

Plus he turned down being Cap's sidekick. Don't think that's something people would over look.

That is one of the main reasons I want to see the mission immediately prior to this point. The whole opening sequence is reminiscent of the one in Apocalypse Now with Martin Sheen (i.e. the burnt-out soldier in the seedy motel room drinking himself into oblivion).

I also want to see what happened with the firing range tech. A retcon that would show that it was all part of a set up would make sense.

I am a mild WWII history buff so the Invaders have always been of interest to me. Like you said Cat they are just a cool team. In some ways the Golden age superheroes are the best. I also adore DC's All-Star Squadron.

Being an Alpha Flight fan the revelation that there was a WWII hero named Major Mapleleaf was just icing on the cake. I wish that they would show more of him with the Invaders.

In my opinion I would also like to see more done with Union Jack I's WWI team, the Freedom's Five. They are barely ever mentioned, perhaps a retconned story where Logan crosses paths with them would be fun.

Plus it would fit in with the Marvel writing trend, "Logan knows everyone". :)

I will agree with you, Cat that Union Jack (I, II, or III) does not get nearly enough face time in comics, and we need to find a way to remedy that.

I think Logan more than likely could have been a member of the Howling Commandos, since he did not get into wearing a costume until he was with Department H.

Yeah, I'd like that. Again a time in Wolverine's life we know viturally nothing of (other than he was in the army).

And I think putting Logan and Nick Fury together as Howling Commandos would have been cruelty to Sam Sawyer (even if it would be theoretically possible, as I'm sure I read some where that the Commandos were technically a British Unit and as a Canadian Citizen, Logan would have been part of the British army at that point).
