Young X-Man
(My anti-virus is blocking me from the main page - says something is trying to attack my computer).

I would rather forget about most of this issue, to tell the truth. The X-men leaving Kurt's body on the ground while they go off to do other stuff, the lack of a reaction from Kitty or Betsy, Piotr's lackadaisical attitude, Hank's appalling behavior, Emma calling Cyclops "dummy" while standing over Kurt's corpse, Cyke rushing from Kurt's corpse to have a COMEDIC MOMENT where Cable introduces him to Hope as his father, Iceman out of all people acting as a priest...ew.

Logan's reaction was really the only thing that felt real to me.

He spends most of the issue with a perpetual grimace on his face and then, when asked, gives his eulogy:

He then points at Hope with his claws, telling her she had better be worth it. (Which I, frankly, hated. I just can't see Logan being that immature. Grief or not, he should know it's not her fault.)

Thoughts?

haven't read it yet but it might be the low point of a very good crossover..though that eulogy by wolverine was really good..

Creaky pointed out lots of things that I had already tried to forget about. It was honestly horribly horrible in like 20 ways.... He never would've called out hope like that, nor would he stand by fine with the fact that Cyclops of all people sent his best friend to his death, especially considering that he dropped Cyclops in an earlier issue of X-Force just for endangering Laura. It was just freaking stupid. Why would they have left his corpse on the ground?! Cyclops: "throw a sheet over him we've got crap to do." Wow. :(

p.s. kurt's smiling corpse... wtf? Way to just kill the mood of the previous issue that killed off a LEGENDARY character by the next issue...

just read the issue and much like a lot of people here i was a bit disappointed..wolverine should've pointed at cyclops and pin kurt's death on him..the art was a bit confusing too, i thought it was sam who was talking to cyke..

oh, who was the 4th person wolverine walked away with on the last panel? it was him, angel, domino and who's the other one? was it x-23? i think she had short hair..

The only thing that felt real about this issue to me was the eulogy from Logan (and not just because I'm biased toward Logan.) The rest just didn't seem right, didn't pull me into the story, didn't convey the importance and the repurcussions of losing a character of Nightcrawler's caliber. I'm usually kind of a sensitive guy ( yeah, I cry at movies) but I didn't feel any emotional stirring until Logan finally had something to say. And then the writers took a big dump on that with what he said to Hope. I suppose the uncharacteristic nature of Logan's statement to Hope could be explained away by his grief, but still, it felt SO wrong and ruined whatever tone they had briefly set with Logan's eulogy.

The whole idea of doing the death of such a major character in the dead center of a cross-over means that things like this will happen. You have limited real estate to tell the story so the whole thing gets rushed and plays out false. It really is a disservice to the dead. It's why most of the big character deaths happen at the end of a event so they can have an appropriate mourning/death issue for the next issue.

Honestly while they are currently at war, you can't really do much for a fallen comrade anyway. I would have preferred that they move Kurt to a secured location and put his body on ice until they could do him justice.

i hated how they just left him there..covered him with a blanket and returned to their own businesses..

i"m also a bit bothered about how colossus is suddenly fooling around with kitty inside at the start of the issue..

I understand Piotr wanting to spend time with Kitty. They are together and she is recently returned and probably a bit lonely sitting down in a containment area. There is no excuse for leaving Kurt on the beach though. Even in combat they carry out the wounded and the dead.
