The end of WOLVERINE: ORIGINS.

And it begins with the death of Mariko Yashida.

It wasn't Matsuo's idea, as so many seem to think... It was the brainchild of Silver Fox. A Silver Fox who had mysteriously reappeared as a HYDRA Overlord. A Silver Fox who recalls a life as a former member of TEAM X. A Silver Fox who killed the overseer of the Weapon X Project with claws similar to Wolverine's, "Integral Weapons Systems" that she'd fogotten were sheathed inside of her arms until the shock of seeing the Professor's face once again. A Silver Fox who had extensive files on Logan, as well as files on those who were watching Logan also. A Silver Fox known to S.H.I.E.L.D. agent John Wraith. A Silver Fox that hated Wolverine, and sought for years to poison the woman he loved using one his own friends as her assassin, for no other reason than to take away something dear to him.

A Silver Fox that was murdered by Sabretooth. Again. A Silver Fox that was buried by Logan behind the ruins of a small cabin that they had shared long ago. A grave visited every Spring by Logan. A grave that Logan was kneeling at when he beheaded Sabretooth with the Muramasa Blade.

A Silver Fox I've been waiting to read about since HOUSE OF M. A Silver Fox that WOLVERINE: ORIGINS #5 revealed had in fact died, just as Claremont and Sienkiewicz said she did in '89.

There is only one ghost left to be put to rest in Logan's past...

Silver Fox.

HOUSE OF M, man. I've been waiting since the HOUSE OF FREAKIN' M, to know who the "Second Silver Fox" was supposed to be.

You can chalk up every Wolverine continuity discrepancy to poor editing, for the most part. The latest writer didn't know he was stepping on some past story's toes and the editors didn't catch it before it was published... and pow! Another continuity error was born.

But the "Second Silver Fox" mess was totally deliberate. Even if Larry Hama's writing was too obscure to understand, we were still left with one basic concensus... That Claremont's Silver Fox from the cabin, and his Silver Fox from Team X were the same person.

Danny Way comes along and tells us that Claremont's Silver Fox really did die all those years ago. Actually he told me. As in "to my face" told me at a signing appearance he made awhile back. As I was next in line I lay down in front of him ORIGINS #5 and WOLVERINE #65 from 1992. "OK, so then who's this, then?" I asked, pointing to Silver Fox on the cover of the issue. He paused, man. Shocked to hear the question. Everyone in line was asking "What's the name of Logan's son?" To which he would smile and tell them "they would just have to wait and see"... That smug little SOB... No one asked him about Silver Fox. No one. It was a long line in a small store and I could hear what everyone was asking him, waiting for the question to be asked by someone in front of me. Logan's son. That's all they wanted to know about. Well, I hope they're happy with their answer. At least they got one.

"OK, so who's this then? Who's this other Silver Fox from Larry Hama?" The man looks me in the eye and says "We're going to address that. Don't worry."

As far as I can tell, none of the storlines in the near future plan to.

Danny Way freakin' lied to my face, man. I held him at his word that day and expected the story to be told all the way to yesterday, when I bought issue 50. That punk. I'll see him again. He'll show back up here in Atlanta again, and I'll get in his face about it this time. He'll answer the question or they'll have to throw me out of the store... BRODY STYLE.

"WHAT! YOU THINK BECAUSE A GUY READS COMIC BOOKS THAT HE CAN'T START SOME SH*T!"

Heh well I'll be in Atlanta for Dragon*con running a table but I didn't see Way on the guest list. I've purposefully never met him even at some of the bigger cons because I don't really have an interesting in doing so. But it would be nice to have some clarification on some of the stuff he didn't bother to address.

He's nowhere. No appearances. Not even a website. I was lucky to notice his tiny ad in the paper that first time.
The hell with it. Jeph Loeb probably did us all a favor by hinting that she never even happened.

Maybe you'll see me at DragonCon... I'll be the Stormtrooper making out with Shawnee Smith.

I'll be working my table for the most part, though I am going to be closing it down at least to meet Stan Lee (assuming he is signing.) But for the rest of the day I'll be sitting around. At night, of course, I will be out and about. Can't miss the fun drinking and partying.
