More and more I'm thinking that the death in the X-Men is Scott. The clues are adding up. We know it's a major player in the X-verse and that it will have a big impact. There are limited numbers of those. Scott is someone that has played his role but with the new Heroic age coming up, the general role will be less important. I expect that mutants are going to be more integrated into society again with Beast and maybe Wolverine as Avengers. Plus Scott is being featured prominently in the posters right up to this one and it fit his personality to sacrifice himself for the future (Hope). He believes in her strongly after all. He is also one of the few characters that has never really been dead. He was taken over by Poccy-lips once but that is about all. I could be wrong but this is my current theory. |

The Second Coming: Prepare one-shot takes place after the fact and Scott is in it. The death will happen in X-Force #26, the funeral is in the next chapter, which is Uncanny X-men #524. Scott's name appears in solicits after these issues. If he will die later on, I don't know, but the death that has been hyped so far can't be him. I'm more inclined to believe it's going to be Kurt. Especially given Logan's reaction. |

Ah but that would not be the first time that they used a character or their name to misdirect a death. While Kurt or Piotr would have an impact, it's nothing like Scott's would be. |

True, but when Scott is interviewed 50 minutes after a shot of Logan grieving the loss of a "friend" and the solicit after the funeral issue reads "Nothing is going right for Cyclops, as he tries to prepare his army for war", it seems to be a little more than creative misdirection going on. |

That's true I guess. Still there have been hints that it will be a surprise death. We'll see. i just think Scott's story line is coming to the end of the line. |

I did read the prologue and though it is possible that it is a hoax (since it does not say all the interviews are post-death) it does seem likely Scott survives. Since Logan calls the person a 'friend' it also tends to go away from Scott or indeed any of the First Class. Well except Jean but she's dead already. So the list of candidates becomes the rest of the second group, Storm, Piotr and Kury. Plus Betsy, Rogue, Kitty and Jubilee. Since Piotr, Kitty, Jubilee and Betsy are newly returned (with Jubes mostly in Limbo), really does limit the field a lot. I hope they are pulling a hoax though like with Jean last year. But it is pointing towards Kurt right now especially with his recent appearances establishing their friendship again. |
