i have a feeling that they'll make a new wolverine series after this one since i think the wolverine series might end after siege/dark wolverine ends..kind of like the one they're doing with deadpool now..but i don't think reverse numbers and monthly team-ups will work for wolverine..

Keep in mind, Dark Wolverine #86 (in May) is #3 of a 4 part story arc tying in with Origins. Origins is only at #48 of fifty. My guess is that they will both be continuing the story in June and then July is the big conclusion to Origins with either a stand alone Dark story or the reversion of Dark to Wolverine. Then a kick off new Daken series in August.

The numbering is odd though, all things considered. Since 88 is not a special number so they might be more likely to do another issue of Dark in August and kick Wolverine back in August but I hope not.

If they really wanted to stretch things though, they have a chance to redo the numbering as I said. The first series went 189 issues, with 87 guaranteed for this one (before any changes) they are at 276. Even including the original limited, only at 280. Really need a couple more years for a bug Wolverine #300 issue.

Most likely an excuse to publish additional material they had stockpiled along with reprints and since Deadpool had a #900 issue, why not have some fun with a Wolverine one?

Well calling it Giant Sized, or something works just as well. And yes I know there was a Giant Sized already but Uncanny as had three. It almost seems like an attempt to cash in on Deadpool's sudden popularity.

Of course if you counted all the titles with Wolverine or Logan in them, he's probably getting close to 400 or 500.

Numbering it #900 doesn't really cash in on Deadpool's popularity, but it does make it stand out more than yet another "Giant-Size" book.

Well Deadpool is the only one to do a #900 and it was as a joke. A play on all the number changing that Marvel had/has been doing. Wolverine is not a humor influenced title though, so doing the same thing reads as following Deadpool. Irony only works the first time after all.

Yes, but saying that it cashes in on Deadpool's popularity is tenuous, at best. It doesn't really have anything to do with Deadpool's popularity. I'm sure many folks who read the solicitation (who are also familiar with Deadpool #900) made the connection, but the point is Wolverine #900 stood out in a sea of solicits, making folks take notice and generating discussion and interest. And that's what Marvel wants.
