Young X-Man

At the beginning of this book series. This was about the man who manipulated Wolverine all his life. Since issue 39, when Wild Child revealed to Logan that there was a masterplan from Romulus to be his succesor, it seems to lead to a new direction. Now it seems to be no longer some revenge against the man who manipulated him all his life but instead it's about the throne, the heir... What do you think of this? Is there a link between the old direction and the seemingly new one? I fail to understand why Romulus would manipulate Logan all his life to make the heir of his throne. Maybe it's me but I'm missing the point here. |

This whole "plot" seems poorly woven altogether...there`s nothing new and engaging...And the throne thing is just a streatch of a story. So meh. I wish we`d see Logan go back to his secret/special agent days - now those were stories to remember! |

You know what would be awesome? Logan doing some stuff for Nick Fury as a secret double agent...that would be nice. |

Don't see it as a new direction, just another way of dealing with the same story we have been seeing for years now. He found Romulus and lost the fight so now trying to build up allies to help. Which is fine but ummm isn't he both and X-Man and an Avenger? Shouldn't he be able to call in a whole host of pain on Romulus the likes of which no one could survive? WHY is he going after the Hulk of all people?? |

Yes I understand what you mean jrpbsp, but as I said in mi first post, I fail to understand why Romulus would manipulate Logan all his life to make him the heir of his throne. A little bit off topic but I think we can consider Logan an Avenger no more (because X-Men's Utopia status). |

Trying to make him tougher maybe? More ruthless and violent. If you can hand pick your successor then you'd want to make him as much like you as possible. And I don't think Utopia negates the Avenger status. Wolverine is still leaving the island at will and showing up all over the place. Not like the New Avengers are a public team. They risk arrest whenever they show up anyway. |

I said he's Avenger no more because I don't see him anymore in the latest New Avengers covers. Do you have information he's still on the New Avengers roster? |

He's off the covers because he is not appearing in the current arc which presumably is still running during the time of Utopia (which lasted a couple of weeks in Marvel time). I say this because at the beginning of the arc it was right around the time of Norman's big speech which happened at the end of the arch so Wolverine is just not yet available. At no time did it indicate he quit the team. Simply went off and helped the X-Men during the crisis. Besides, once an Avenger always an Avenger. Heck Beast is still a reserve Avenger last I checked and he hasn't been on one of their teams in what 20 years? |
