Team X; Wolverine's first Team?

I was originally planning to do a thread on Maverick (as we already have one for WildChild, it seemed only fair), but then I was looking around and found out no one had done one for Team X.
This seemed slightly strange, as it's one of the most important periods.
It's the first time Wolverine works as part of a Team, properly, the first time we know he's being mind wiped, and re-starts his and Creed's rivalary.
It also introduces him to Maverick, who is one of his few friends from this period who doesn't try to kill him on sight (seriously, the guy needs to work on his people skills).

Info from Wikipedia
Quote:

In the Marvel Universe, Team X was a CIA black ops team that operated during the 1960s and was linked to Weapon Plus. It was made up of Logan (Wolverine), Victor Creed (Sabretooth), Maverick, Kestrel, Mastodon, Silver Fox and Deadpool. Team X was apparently disbanded after a botched mission concerning Omega Red, though its members were captured and used as test subjects by the Weapon X Project.

So, Yeah, discuss

Maverick is a fun character and I am glad he's reappeared in the recent Weapon X story line (and not in Origins). I think the period when he was dying from the legacy virus was very telling and had some great character moments. And yes I actually own his short run series. Problem is he never really made it past reluctant solider to become something that stood out more.

As for Team X, not much to say really. We don't know too much of what happened there and stuff we have been told/shown is questionable due to all the brain washing that was being done to the team at the time. I wouldn't mind seeing it revisited now though so we can get a real story.

Wikipedia is wrong again. Deadpool was not part of Team-X in comics he was in the movie though.

I thought that, but I assumed that it was simply he'd being involved with a mission in a comic I hadn't read.
After all, didn't Mystique help in Team X/ Team 7 cross?

Team X/Team 7 isn't canon though yes I believe Mystique was in it. Deadpool wasn't even alive back then though, his healing factor came in after Wolverine was Weapon X.

I think, but it's only a thought, that it's implied somewhere that Wade Wilson may have worked with Logan when he was with Canadain intelligence.
As Wilson was a mecenary before he was Deadpool (and it's hinted they were at weapon X at roughly the same time), it is possible they met.

The first Weapon-X program was in the late 60s. Logan was bonded with adamantium in roughly 68. Wade was a member of the second Weapon-X program headed by Killbrew in the 80s. wade would have been what 10 or so when Logan was Canadian Intell.

Wade was part of the second team that consisted of Garrison, Copycat, Slugo, Slayback, and I can't remember anymore.

Leaving Deadpool out of it, what do people think of Team X members? We know that jrpbsp likes Maverick, and so do I, but what do other people think?
What about John Wraith (Kestrel), Company man or not?
And what about the two mysterious members, WildCat and Vole? Do people have any ideas about them?

(I'm leaving Silver Fox out, as we've already had a debate about her, and Sabretooth and wolverine...I think everyone's views on them are plain. Feel free to correct me)

Wraith was more or less like Wolverine to me. Doing a job that needed to be done. I think it was heavily hinted that he was more 'company' then most but then he was one of the only members that was actually American.

All we really know about him was that he didn't like the things Sabretooth did (killing innocents) and tried to hide his teleporting for the most part. And he liked explosives, especially the shaped charges.

Of course with his heavy dose of paranoia it's pretty safe to say he was a career spook.
