Wolverine's closest friends in the X-Men

 I am pretty sure that Logan sees Kitty as a daughter as well, but the he and Kitty have known each other for so long that he treats her as an equal too.

 It's debatable. I have always thought he treated Kitty more as a kid sister and protege then a daughter. You don't see them hugging much or her riding on his back like you do with Jubes.

I am sometimes inclined to agree, but I think Kitty was always way too mature for that kind of interaction (or at least considered herself to be), and I don't think open, physical affection is always a fail-proof indication of how close you are.
What I WOULD say goes against the idea of Logan seeing Kitty as his daughter is the off-handed way he treated her when she came back to the X-men. She was pretty bitter about how she felt she didn't fit in anymore and in the Black Sun mini, when asked about her "precious Wolverine", she replied that he wasn't her "precious anything" anymore. I think that if he really felt that she was his daughter, he would have taken a greater interest in her life. Also, what kind of father lets his daughter believe he's dead for the longest time? But then, he pretty much abandoned both Jubilee and Amiko, too.

One of my favorite kitty/ Wolvie moments was in Uncanny X-Men #196 when they are sitting on the college steps and Kitty snatches his cigar and tries it.
I loved that moment, too.
