Can anyone recommend the Spidey Loves Mary Jane series? It was recommended to me but I am not sure. It looks sort of like the Emma Frost series. I would appreciate some input. |

I think it's a 'girl's comic' that deal more with real life problems a high school teenager goes through then 12 rounds against Doc Ock. |

I kind of liked that aspect of the Emma Frost series. I have always kind of liked the "real-life" aspects of super-heroes lives over the super-battles anyway. It is when they are out of costume doing "every-day" things that I enjoy the comics the most. |

Must be my age talking, but i mostly like folks getting in their costumes and putting their lives on the line to help people. Dc is more like that while Marvel focuses moe on the human side of it's super-heroes.

I think the reason why i choose Marvel was this one scene were Peter Parker came back in his appertment and toke some pain killers. He took off his costume and you could see the black spots. |

That was in the Daredevil movie too. Those are the parts that I like, those little touches of humanity. |

I haven't read the latest series, but the previous limited series' were quite good. It's purely about the human aspect of Mary-Jane's life, with the occasional "Spider-Man busts through a school wall fighting Doc Ock" sort of moment. I'd say if you enjoy the social aspect of Spider-Man comics, that part where they focus on his life, his job, his friendships and girlfriends... then you'll likely like the Mary-Jane titles. It's not secret that they're primarily aimed at the female market, but that doesn't necessarily mean that if you're male you can't enjoy it. In fact, if memory serves the books were well received all around. |
