Looking back i do see a little bit of Buffy in Kitty.
Yeah, I very much saw that too. A bit of River Tam too. Joss does like his strong girls.

Robin (Dick) has become the "perfect hero" because he had Bruce all along to guide him and help him cope with his own troubles, just as Kitty has had the X-Men to show her the world in which mutants must live and make her understand the importance of peaceful coexistance. Unlike Robin, however, Kitty has not experienced first-hand the consequences of not applying their mentor`s ideal, but has decided to be true to the legacy, which, I belive, makes her superior.

Kitty took Xavier`s dream to her heart, even though, out of all the X-Men, she had the least reason to do so; just as easily, she could have just gotten the hang of her powers and then go back to leading a normal life; heck, they didn`t even want her joining the team initially! But she became resilient and she learned from her mistakes, believing in Xavier`s dream for all the good it can do, out of sheer respect for the ideal. I think that says a lot about her as a person and as a character. She does what she does because it is right, it is good and thus, it is worth dedicating your life to it; it`s nothing personal and thus, there isn`t any subjective desire linked to it - and thus, no way to taint the final goal with your personal opinions about how things should be done. In this perspective, Kitty`s and "insider" handling the problem with an "outsider" view; she`s a mutant fighting for human-mutant peaceful coexistance not out of personal motivation, but because she acknowledges the fact that it`s "the good fight". This makes Kitty a classic hero, one who fights for good not because her past has taught her the value of good, but becasue good is worth fighting for! And this is why I love Kitty as a character more than anything (and I am eagerly awaiting her return) :D

And yes, I love the fact that Joss writes strong female characters and he gives them a smooth, natural type of strength, nothing too shocking and nothing too moderate. It makes them believable, realistic women with just the right balance between credibility and power, which is awesome!

PS. Temp, I`d love to follow your opinions on Robin on the DCAU thread; I have some to share myself :)
