I'm starting to think we've been making the wrong assumption all along on this. I don't know if they ever came right out and said Wolverine's death is the ongoing one they are talking about. I do remember them saying things aren't what they seem. After reading this issue I'm starting to think that

Maybe it's Storm that is dead and Wolverine isn't. The missing claw is very weird since nothing should be able to break adamantium. And Storm is definitely not herself at all. Could be a dupe or maybe she's been taken over by Shadow King. But wondering if she is the one to die
