I am sure that this has been brought up before now, but I wish Captain America's death would have made more of an impact on comics as a whole. The Marvel universe recognized it, but no mention was made in the DC universe. I remember in the early 90s when Superman died there were vague references made to his death in some marvel comics, which I thought was cool. I think Cap got the "short-changed" in the death recognition department, even though I think to the comic universe(s) populace he is just as iconic and hope inspiring a hero as Superman. I wish DC would have made at least an obscure reference to it. I am sure the lack of cross-over recognition between the two universes has something to do with the comic companies poor decision to view the Marvel and DC universe as two seperate entities. I personally like the idea of the Marvel and DC universes as one shared universe. I wish Marvel and DC would adopt that policy again. |

I don't know if that was an oversight, it may just be a difference in perception. In the early 90s deaths and resurrections in comic books weren't nearly as common as they are today. I think it's gotten to the point where no one feels the need to reference it because no one believes it will be permanent, and for good reason, it won't be. |

Logan sniffed the corpse to confirm it was Cap's dead body. I believe various other characters did various other things to confirm it was his body. To say that isn't Cap's dead corpse will discredit more the one major important player in the Marvel Universe. So I really hope they don't say Cap never died. Just saying... and this is my two cents. |

Templedog was referring to recognition by DC. Essentially saying that if they didn't mention it, recognize it, then they didn't feel it was a large enough event to do so. Basically, a snub on DC's part. In-continuity Cap's death has been referenced and examined in countless books, it's had a profound affect on more characters than I can list off the top of my head. And yes, he really is dead, there was definitive confirmation in the Thor ongoing. Thor communed with Cap's spirit (a very powerful issue, by the way). |

Exactly right. I personally think that Cap is an important enough comic character that his death should have been recognized by DC. It would have been nice to see Superman recognize the death of his fellow patriot and mourn him. I can only guess if the two heroes exsisted in the same universe they might not have been friends, but they would have at least had a immense respect for each other. For me Captain America and Superman are iconic. If I lived in the comic universe and saw either hero come to my rescue I would just know that everything was going to be okay. For me both men exude that kind of reassurance. Spiderman kind of gives off that kind of feeling too. |

Well back then the big two were being a little more civil to each other. They did the occasional crossover and event. Now they don't speak except to quip at each other so it's no surprise Cap's death had no impact on DC. |
