Brothers in Arms Parts One Through Five

Logan is vacation in Kona Kai which I think is in Hawaii. He happens to catch a woman named Kayla running from a religious group named the Coven. Logan of course saves her from getting killed, but from this point on he remarks about how all of his free time is always interrupted. He complains about having his vacation ruined, but he does it in a very funny way.

Kayla explains that they need to sacrifice her to unleash some evil of some sort. So she transfers her sacrificial mark to Wolverine, which makes him the prime target of the Coven's attacks. He does so willingly since he could smell Cyber's presence among the Coven warriors he defeated earlier. At this point I believe this is only the second time we see Cyber in the Marvel Comics universe, and Logan is looking for a rematch.

The Coven's other members are petty much killed in this issue, either by Cyber or Wolverine. Satyr for example is thrown into boiling acid. I believe Vex is disemboweled by Cyber, when he foolishly tries to kill Cyber for failing the mission. My favorite death is Blood Shadow's, who suffers his fate at the end of Berserker Wolverine's claws. Blood Shadow accidentally releases Logan's feral side, in which Logan reduces him into nothing more then a blood stain.

The story is unoriginal but not without it's amusing parts. For example there is one scene where Cyber is chained to Logan, which happens to be conveniently made out of adamantium, so they must reluctantly travel the jungle together. There is some funny dialog exchanged between the two, my favorite went something like this:

Cyber: "Do you know when you are knocked unconscious you say the names of all your dead girlfriends?"
Logan: "You should know, you killed one of them!"
Cyber: "Well, who hasn't ?"

I couldn't help but smile at how amusing Cyber was in this story arc.

Check out Blood Shadow's Death :

Here is his final remains :

At the end Logan drops Cyber off a cliff or something like that. And then him and Kayla go their separate ways.

KAYLA

Posted Image

Cyber took Kayla and the false Tear of Heaven with him. I wonder if Kayla was meant to die as a sacrifice to the Coven even by her own people. They weren't too happy when she returned. Without the real Tear of Heaven the Dark Age couldn't be summoned anyway. When Kayla returned the Coven lost their sacrifice and the Cultists of the Temple of the Sun had reason to be afraid of an attack which happened. The Coven could've found the real Tear of the Sun at the attack and then summon the Dark Age. It was really a dangerous move from Kayla when she ran away from the Coven.

Tear of Heaven

The false Tear of Heaven was stolen by Cyber and brought to the Coven along Kayla. He carried it around for awhile until it was brought to the Temple of the Coven. There it stayed in a hall until the ritual to the summoning of the Dark Age began. Wolverine took it away from Blood Shadow and returned it to the Temple of the Sun. After the Coven was defeated he told Kayla and the High Priest that the Tear of Heaven was just a replica of glass, but they already knew this.

The real Tear of Heaven never left the Temple of the Sun. It was shown to Wolverine after the Coven was defeated. It looked exactly like the false Tear of Heaven.

Temple of the Sun

It was a place on Koma Koi were a cult of enlightenment lived. It had traps like spikes or fire spewing statues. It was well guarded and was immune to an attack of the Coven as long as no blood was shed in the inside of the temple.

Vex was an augur and was able to read the future from entrails. He used different blades in combat. He was one of the lower leaders of the Coven.

Blood Shadow

Posted Image

Blood Shadow was a telepath and able to predict all moves of his opponents by reading their mind. He had some advanced knowledge of the body which he showed by hitting his opponents at nerve clusters and vital areas. He was also the supreme leader of the Coven.

Satyr

Posted Image

Satyr had super strength and some higher degree of durability which he showed by smashing a wall with his fists. He was one of the lower leaders of the Coven.

Fetish

Posted Image

Fetish was a clairvoyant and possessed magical powers which she used in many different ways. She was one of the lower leaders of the Coven.

Coven assassins

They were the normal folk of the Coven. They were a bunch of loyal cultists whose only purpose was to fight and kill for their masters.

It's one of those books we know Logan from.
He's the stranger coming to town that has a lot of troubles.
By the time Logan moves on back to the X-men/Avengers or in this case keeps going, the problem is very much dealt with.

If it has fighting, good charectures and a compelling story, i'm in for the ride.
