Yeah, but while he was employed by them, someone would ask questions, even if they were totally innocent. If Logan was out of the service, anyone who might have been tempted to go looking for him (Carol Danvers, Nick Fury) could be kept distracted by thier own missions.

I agree that Logan didn't do himself any favours. he did tell Carol he was off to the Yukon (which had a very low chance of anyone being sucessfully able to locate him)

He had friends sure and lovers but the spy business is ultimately a lonely game. You generally wouldn't question someone disappearing although if you care for them and they never resurface you might go looking for answers/revenge. And you might not. It's a dangerous business after all.

Now if you found out someone you liked was setup and killed/captured then definitely you go after the ones who setup your friend. I'm sure eventually someone would have figured it out either way but they could have definitely snagged and held Logan for a long time without people questioning it.

Agree, but with in the spy business (I assume, having no experience), there is always someone who knows where you are, and it would be impossible to stop rumours.Someone would have ultimately started asking difficult questions.

If Logan was outside, then there would be no one to ask. But as I said, that's just my personal cannon, and has been since I first read Weapon X.

Certainly possible. All we know from that time was that Logan was pretty much all over the map and he worked for both US and Canadian intelligence. The whole history of that period is so muddled that it is difficult to tell exactly what he was doing to whom and when.
