The Punisher War Journal #6 - 7 Writer: Carl Potts Pencils: Jim Lee  In Madripoor, Wolverine learns that a transporter for an African poaching operation has been making his pickup schedules at his bar. He interrogates the transporter, and learns that the animal hides he has been trafficking in have been coming from the Congo in Africa. Wolverine takes it upon himself to return the pelts to their homeland. At the same time the Punisher's friend Microchip insists that Frank needs a vacation, He wants Frank to work as a safari guide for his friend Richard Wyeth in the Congo searching for a mythological dinosaur known as Mokele Mbembe. Frank thinks the job sounds stupid, but agrees to do it to humor Microchip. Professor Wyeth's wife Norma is actually in league with a Congolese security officer named Corporal Embambe. Together they seek to kill the dinosaur and sell its head to a rich Texas collector. A young tour guide discovers their conspiracy and they are forced to kill him. They blame his death on a renegade gorilla. But Frank becomes suspicious and doubts their story. Castle investigates the death scene, automatically discovering the something else killed the tour guide. A gorilla launches itself at Castle and he is forced to kill it. Unfortunately, hiding within the trees is Wolverine. Wolverine believes that Castle is the poacher responsible for farming out the illegal animal pelts. He leaps down and attacks Castle and the two begin fighting. Frank puts up a good fight, but Wolverine ultimately beats him and leaves his body in the river as food for alligators. Castle survives and tracks down Wolverine assuming that he is the one who killed the tour guide. Logan gets to Norma at the same time she finds the dinosaur nest, Castle attacks Logan before he can do anything. The battle is stopped as soon as they realize that Norma and Corporal Embambe are behind all of this. Norma tries to trap the dinosaurs in a cave , leaving Frank no choice but to put a bullet in her back. As Richard Wyeth holds her dying body in his arms, she admits that their marriage was a lie and that a wealthy Texan collector elaborately planned for all of this. Castle and Logan both end up leaving Corporal Embambe for dead, the gorillas getting their revenged on his injured and tied up body. Later, Frank Castle returns home to find a strange note left in front of his doorstep. It's a peace offering from Logan comeplete with a six pack of beer and a note saying he took care of the wealthy Texan who was after the dinosaurs and who Norma was working for. The story is pretty good and the pencils by Jim Lee are excellent. It's amazing to see Punisher as a cool guy for a change. He actually calls a truce with Logan when he realizes that Logan isn't the one who killed the tour guide. Also he offers to help Logan see a doctor after he apologies, he was actually concerned he would die from the bullet wounds. I kinda like the old Punisher a lot better then the stereotype he has become now. Logan may of thrown the first punch, but at least he apologies by buying Castle a six pack of beer. That is pretty funny.

Yeh, and in Africa! The plot of the movie is similiar to this story. Except no Punisher or Wolverine. We did have a Jamaican African in it though! |

I wouldn't be surprised if both that movie and the comic were heavily influenced by Jurassic Park at the time. Errr. Well maybe the book since the movie came out in 1993. |

Not really, plot is very diffirent. Basicly the two folks try to save a baby brachiosaurus from a evil buisiness man. Funny trivia, the mother of the baby dinosaur eats the bad guy despite being a herbivore ^.^. More and more i realise this movie sucked, and i own it on video... |

I loved it as a kid, only for the Jamaican African guy. Now, if we had Wolverine and Punisher in it.... Hahaha, dude, that would be so awesome! |

This was the first time Castle and Logan met each other btw. Castle didn't know Logan had healing powers. |
