What If #43 is not a bad issue by all means. We get to see Logan happily married, as he resigns from the X-Men to live with Mariko in Japan. One question always bothered me was how would Logan be involved with Clan Yashida's criminal influence? Well apparently he would kill all those criminal drug lords and restore honor to the clan the good old fashioned way! :educate: Which is pretty cool because we get to see Mariko fight alongside Logan for a little bit.

The new Yakuza leader in this Kingpin surprisingly enough, which kinda makes sense the way he explains it. He see's the Japanese crime as something more permanent, since America will eventually fall among itself in the future. From everything I heard and read about the Kingpin of Crime that sounds believable enough. Plus I always wanted to see Logan have a reason to go after the Kingpin which satisfies that inner fanboy dream of mine.

The Kingpin sends in the Silver Samurai as a mole to win over Mariko's trust so she lets her guard down. So when the Kingpin challenges Logan to a sword match and loses, he orders the Silver Samurai to kill his half sister Mariko. Logan goes into a rage over seeing his wife die and pop's a claw into the Silver Samurai's brain. The Kingpin tries to escape but his car is blown up by Sunfire who is Mariko's cousin. Feeling lost, a emotional distraught Logan returns home to the X-Men to mourn the death of his wife.

I like this story because it sort of shows that Mariko was serious about marrying Wolverine. I mean she knew that her family was tied to crime before the marriage, so it made little sense that they didn't get married when she broke from Mastermind's control. I'm also glad to see her cousin Sunfire get a little payback for all the horrible things the Yakuza did to the family.

One thing that bothers me now after being reminded for the millionth time. How come Logan never tracked down Mastermind and give him a little payback for deepening Clan Yashida's ties with the Yakuza? I don't think any explanation can be given to justify that one little plot hole. (Besides the obvious fact that Marvel didn't want Mastermind dead yet.) In my strong opinion that was a story that should of been told, up until recently I assumed it was a story I missed and never read.
