![]() Almost everyone should know who Dark Claw is, or at least heard of the Amalgam Universe back in the early 90's. I'm here talking about this because recently I have ordered a ton of old Wolverine comics, and my nostaligia couldn't pass up on the chance to read this one over again. I had to wonder if my twenty year old self would enjoy this issue as much as my fourteen year old self would. And apparently after much speculation and caution it still was a blast to read. There is something cool about see Logan live it up as a wealthy man in a city that he watches over. I have to wonder that this is how Logan should of ended up, at least if he wasn't repeatedly brainwashed and manipulated. I know Logan isn't much of a material possession person, but that type of life style would offer him the freedom to accomplish his goals of taken down his manipulators. Larry Hama did a great job of portraying Logan's climb from Alberta to Gotham City, there is a especially great reference to Logan's secure identity and how even the most highest security files don't have accurate information on who Logan really is. In this world Logan already knows who he is and there is no overly done story about him finding out about his past. He refers to Hyena as the successful Weapon X experiment and he considers himself the failure because he is a weapon with a conscious. To me that is Larry Hama at his best and he reflects that he at least nailed down that on true and important aspect of Wolverine's essence. We are also introduced to this world's Huntress and Sparrow, I personally really liked Sparrow and thought she was adorable in her interactions with Dark Claw. I know we have a million and one Wolverine titles, but damn do I miss this story and I would of liked to see a few more issues of this. The artwork by Jim Balent was really nice and I love how beautiful his women turned out. ![]() Here is some interesting stuff I dug up. |

I may in the strong minority from what I have heard but I actually though it was a kind of fun comic book and actually bought both of them. It is not the best written thing in the world but I still like the idea of combining Wolverine and Batman together. I don't read anything DC but if you think about it both characters are dark and struggling with their natures. They are both intelligent, well trained and driven. Plus with all the beating he takes, Batman could use a healing factor. I know we won't see the big two cooperating again in the near future but if they made more of these I would probably buy them. |

I would buy them too. I really loved the Jubilee / Sparrow combo. What is there not to love about a Logan who is not only a intelligent detective, but still has his healing factor and "prolonged lifespan". It makes sense that someone who has lived that long would be that intelligent and have that much money anyway. Dark Claw is my favorite alternate reality Wolverine and I still want to see more of him. I could totally see a thousand different possibilities for a ongoing. I loved this two page spread. ![]() And "LOL" at Bill Clinton being the President that Hyena was going to assassinate. |

I always thought the way they resolved the DC vs Marvel crisis was very ingenious and I must admit the Batman-Wolverine combination is one of the (most) fortunate ones in the whole of the Amalgam Universe! If they had an ongoing, I`d read it just for the kicks!
