Many of you have probably noticed that I have not been as active on the boards or the site as I used to be. That is because I have two major projects I have been working on. And now the first of those projects is ready to be revealed.

I've written a book. It's not published, but I have received some pretty positive reviews/feedback from readers and even a few agents.

Unfortunately, there is not enough interest to get it published.

So I've decided to launch a website to create some online enthusiasm to spur agents/publishers to publish my book.

I will warn you. This is not a Wolverine story, but rather "a whimsical, funny and ultimately touching series of vignettes that creates a narrative of my journey from college to fatherhood with Vito, my rather mischievous and larger-than-life black alley cat."

Please do check it out, and if you don't mind, please help to support it by following it on Twitter and Digging the site. All the details on on the right rail of the website.

Enough yattering.

I hope you like it

I actually have a book as well. I did not do more then some brief checks to get it published before I decided to self-publish mine. Working on getting the cover art straightened out now, hopefully it will be available for purchase in a couple of months. I might then try to shop it around to the big publishers. Good luck on yours! I hope you get the interest to get it published.

It's a fantasy novel about two kids that get sucked into another realm and have to learn magic and gather companions to defeat a dark god that is starting to awaken. Standard high fantasy stuff.

DiG,

I have read the chapters, and enjoyed the book so far very much. Would you consider it suitable for YA (young adult) and up? The drawing of Vito is very good, also, did you do it?

I have forwarded the page to four cat-loving friends, and will continue to check in on your progress. Thumbs up!!!!

Thanks Pam!

My kids really liked it (ages 14 and 12) though my youngest could not stop crying at the ending and some of the vocabulary was above their level (they figured it out from context).

So yes, YA would like it (I hope), but it is intended for adults and all ages, as opposed to strictly for Young Adults.

The picture is from a 1933 French book of sketches by Steinlen that I recently hunted down. Seemed to capture the book perfectly!

Hey DiG!

I just read the first chapters and must say I really found the story endearing. It brought me back in time to when I had my first puppy, a fesity "little" Schnauzer who later became like a surrogate sibling to me. Suffice to say many adventures were shared.....

That beign said, I wish you lots of luck on your literary adventure! ^_^

Read the first couple of characters and it's amusing. I hope you find a publisher.

I am betting your youngest is a girl cause I can't see a 12 year old boy crying in front of dad. ;)

It's a boy.

He was convulsing he was crying so hard.

It's a very emotional finale.

Maybe not Old Yeller, but it has packed a punch with most readers so far.

Thanks, Ahma!

I've noticed that despite a bunch of people enjoying the story, that very few have followed me on Twitter or Dugg the story, as I requested.

That is not a criticism, mind you, just an observation concerning the effectiveness of the site.

So let me ask... Is that because you (collectively) don't use Twitter or Digg? Or does it take too long to complete the task?

Since I am trying to quantify the people who have enjoyed it, would it be easier if I asked for people to add a comment to a specific page in support of getting the book published (not a page that exists right now, btw)?

I figure I might as well take advantage of the focus group here to improve the site for the long run!
