It was bad, in my opinion it was also a lot of fun as well. This is like a really sick and twisted What If that is just too hard to take seriously. We have so much gore and mayhem popping up everywhere that I can't help but be amused. It's like bad horror movie that you would see with your friends on HBO. I don't know how else to describe it. |

It was bad and confused. It seems like if you aren't reading the tie ins they aren't going to help you out any. I was totally lost with most of the Spider-Man stuff, ditto with Dr Strange and I don't know why suddenly Wolverine and Kitty are close. It hasn't been shown in the series so far, seems like 616 suddenly. That said it had its amusing moments and was not painful to read in and of itself. I just wish it was a bit clearer. Still it was not as bad as I feared and I smirked a bit at Strange's fate. |

I can help with the Kitty bit....It was somewhere in the Banshee drug story. Supposedly Logan sent Kitty a letter full of compliments and kind words. And when Logan visits Spider-man for help in discovering what the Banshee drug was, she hugs him and tells him that his words were very kind. I don't know what the letter said word for word, I assume it has something to do with the Ultimate Spider-man comic books. |

Ah thanks. I vaguely remember the letter but I have not read any of the Spidey stuff so i guess I have missed out on their characterizations. I did know that Kitty was appearing in that title but was not aware that Logan had crossed over. Does make more sense, just reading it, those scenes kind of came out of the blue to me. |

This issue has many problems, but I enjoyed the Wolverine bits. As always Loeb writes nonsensical drivel. How does a metal sword cut off Magneto's arm? He should have been able to stop that with a thought before it came anywhere near him. It makes no damn sense. My biggest issue comes from the tie-ins though. I have no problem with this book relying on the tie-ins. It's not exactly like the Ultimate universe had 50 ongoing series at a time. It has Ultimatum, and Ultimate X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Spider-Man. And the only tie-in that's still running is Ultimate Spidey. So again, on my part, no big. The problem comes from exactly how the story was laid out. In the previous issue of Ultimate Spider-Man it ends with a vague mystical explosion of purple/pink-ish energy. Alright, fine. But then the next issue opens after the explosion. Meaning the only way to see Peter getting caught in it is in Ultimatum #04. But if you read that first, you've just spoiled the ending to the final Ultimate Spider-Man issue. So you see, the only way to properly read either issue without spoiling one or the other is to read the first few pages of Ultimatum, stop, read the entire final Ultimate Spidey issue, stop, then come back to Ultimatum and finis the rest of the issue. That's just convoluted and backwards. That makes no damn sense. The least they could have done was shown what happens with Peter/Hulk/Dr.Strange in a few panels of both books, that's the logical thing to do. |

Perhaps I turn a blind eye to a lot of his shit work lately because his son died. I respect him because he did some great work with his color series such as Daredevil Yellow. I think he should just retire though, because I can sympathize with the guy. |
