This is a really weird story because it involves a "fake history" being created by the new commander of Alpha Flight. General Clarke wants Wolverine brought back to Alpha Flight by any means necessary. Even if that means brain washing the members of Alpha Flight and replacing their memories with fake ones. He creates this fake video documents that portrays Logan as a serial killer and escaped convict. Some of the footage shows Logan escaping from jail and strangely enough - acquiring his healing factor ability from Shaman. And to make sure no questions are asked he frames Logan for the death of another Alpha Flight member. (I think it's Madison.) Of course you can pretty much predict what happens next. It's interesting to note that the narrative isn't all that appealing. Instead of your typical yellow box narrator, you have one that "mocks" whoever happens to be on the panel at the time. For example Heather is walking down a hallway and the narrator remarks "You shouldn't of turned you back Heather". And of course something happens to her in which she is attacked by a unseen foe. This type of narration makes the book seem like a B-movie. The story is a throwback to the times when Alpha Flight hunted down Wolverine. It isn't horrible and I do enjoy a variation of this story. I am sure a lot of other people feel differently, but it was a neat idea for back when Logan had his bone claws. Again I would like to mention that I only read issues #8 and issue #9 of volume two, I really don't know what the ultimate plan of the general was or what happened before issue #8 began. For I know the events in the book can be far superior compared to what I'm making it sound like. I can only give an outsiders opinion for now. There are certain scenes that seem a little too immature for such well established characters. Like Heather Hudson getting upset that another team mate (Murmur) was flirting with James Hudson. Little things like that just seemed really out of place, but maybe that is the old man in me talking. It was pretty cool to see that Sunfire joined the team for a little while though. Also this book is shown from a different perspective in Uncanny X-Men #355 I really enjoy these types of crossovers that happen between only two different teams. The different perspectives can be amusing. I would like to add that this story takes place shortly after the Zero Tolerance arc, with the X-Men getting out of the mutant concentration camp just a few days after. I also want to add that I think it is sweet that Logan forgives Heather so easily, even though her team attacked him so unjustly. |

That's because he doesn't want to kill his son. ![]() I still want that story to get done some day... redundant with Daken now though. |
