With the success of the Spider-Man 100 Project & Hulk 100 Project auctions put together by The Hero Initiative to benefit comic creators in need, it appears that they will folow suit with a Wolverine 100 project.

The premise of the auction is a blank comic book cover is given out to 100 different artists to draw or sketch something based upon the character. A blank Ultimate Spider-Man #100 cover was used for the Amazing Spider-Man and a blank Hulk #1 cover was used for the Incredible Hulk.

Once finished, the covers are shown at conventions and auctioned off for charity. The covers are also scanned for collecting into a trade, which you can purchase and the proceeds again go to benefit retired or ailing creators.

A blank Wolverine: Weapon X #1 cover has gone out and so far, here are some of the early results...

Collen Coover

The other half of the Coover cover makes the whole thing even better!

Excellent! Look forward to some great covers.

The composition from Parker is good in this one - he should draw more often.

I highly recommend his Interman graphic novel, featuring his story & art. Great stuff!

That Coover wrap-around cover is adorable! Love the satisfied, happy smile on his hairy l'il face.

How does one get these books? I'm too lazy to read the article at the moment.

Hey there:

Thanks for the links! To answer the question above, they'll be put up for auction on eBay by the folks at The Hero Initiative. I'm not sure when, though. Their auctions page is here: http://www.heroinitiative.org/Content.asp?Id=14

And I should reply to this, too:
"Jeff Parker and Steve Lieber don't like Wolverine so much huh?"

Oh, man- That's not the case at all. The Cockrum/Byrne/Smith run on Uncanny is one of the reasons I wanted to become a cartoonist in the first place. I've wanted to draw a Wolverine story since I was 12, but schedules and opportunities never worked out right. The piece on my blog is the closest I've come to drawing the guy in a professional context, and it was a blast. As for Parker, he's just going for a laugh while warming before doing any actual sketching.

There'll be one more Wolverine cover coming from a Periscope Studio artist, but I should let him announce it on his own website.

Wow Steve. It's really great to have you here.

Thanks so much for taking the time to explain what's going on with the auction.
