I'm not going to lie. When comic fans admit that the 90's was bad, they are most likely referring to books like this one. When I heard this book existed, I was happy to track down a copy since I am a Wolverine completest. I mean how cool is it when they revisit Logan's days spent in Department H? As long as they stop adjusting how Wolverine met Professor X, there could be some really fun stories located at that time period.

The story is manily focused on Cable's first adventure in the present day world. He meet's up with Franklin Rhodes who is way too friendly and generous. Seriously, I couldn't shake the feeling that this dude was in love with Cable. Whether this guy is a important part of Cables convoluted past I couldn't say, since I have never been interested in reading anything with Cable in it. (Unless Deadpool was in it or Wolverine.)

The artwork is pretty damn bad. Those who complain about the small ill proportions of Wolverine and The X-Men need to realize just how good they have it. Those small complaints are nothing compared to Stephen Platt and his over muscular bulky bodies. Overall this book is just filled with too much cliche and testosterone filled conversations.

For the love of god why does Cable scream "OATH"? Is that suppose to be some sort of futuristic curse word? Every time he shouts "OATH" it is either because he is surprised or angry about something. This alone makes me want to gouge out my eyes for reading this book. I think this was just the icing on the cake that killed this book for me.

The book ends with Wolverine tracking down a killer from the future who ended up in Department H (check the description at the bottom.) The final battle takes place in Franklin Rhode's place, where Rhodes get's killed by the angry, bulky, disgruntled, mutant bounty hunter. Wolverine decapitates the eight foot tall hunter and puts him out of his misery, then Cable and Wolverine say some mean stuff to each other for no reason other then to sound cool.

Holy shit is this a bad comic. I'm just going to skip right to Should this book remain forgotten and say, yes, OH MY GOD YES! It's a Wolverine/Cable team-up book with art by Stephen Platt. I don't think this book is forgotten, I think it's been blocked out by the collective memory of comic fandom, particularly Joe Casey fans. If you took this book to Casey at a convention, I wouldn't be surprised if he set it on fire, said "What comic?" and then beat you right there on the convention floor with the help of his fellow Mans of Action.

A over explained villain who through bad writing is more ridiculous then bad ass. He is a bounty hunter, turned into a psycho because of time travel, then captured by Department H as a guinea pig, then breaks free to continue hunting down Cable. By the time Wolverine chops off his head you find yourself wishing you never read this book.

Bad art, bad stories, bad characterizations, over done plots and silly dialogue. Ah, the 90s. How they sucked.
