I'll be doing a whole host of reviews this week, Ult will be in there somewhere just depends on how quick I can get to some of the others.

This series was a bit of an oddball for me. Unlike the rest of the world I thought the first two issues before the massive hiatus were just OK. But since coming back it got progressively better, issue by issue. All-in-all I was really pleased with this storyline.

I felt this one was just ok. Kind of a let down really since there was no big fight and Wolverine was portrayed as the heavy the whole time. But it was not a bad issue just anti-climatic

I actually felt the opposite on this one. When the series first started out, I was really concerned that it was just going to be one big mindless 6 issue fight. I wasn't looking forward to that any more than I looked forward to World War Hulk (all fighting, absolutely no substance). Instead they took it in a different direction and started out with a bang, a battle royale, and then gradually moved into a more thoughtful piece about life, identity, peace, and even a little bit of love.

Considering how it started, with Wolverine being torn apart, I've spent the rest of the time waiting for 1) Wolverine to be in one piece again and 2) Him to get some payback. I wanted the slugfest, it was called Wolverine vs Hulk, not Wolverine and Hulk conversation time. ;)

Honestly I put almost no emphasis on fights in superhero comics. It's the least important part to me. It doesn't really matter who's stronger than who or how brutal the imagery can get. Sure it's fun, but I put it at the bottom on my list of priorities.

And "vs" doesn't necessarily mean fighting. The first half of the series is fighting, and the second half is a battle of wits, but the two are at odds none the less.

I'm wholly satisfied with the conclusion, because in this fight there will never be a winner. Neither character is allowed to die, so neither character can ever win. And even if they were allowed to die, they cannot because both of them appear in stories that take place after this book (IE Ultimatum).

I do like the fights. It is super hero comics and it's pretty much all about beating the bad guy. That said if this series had not started with Wolverine being torn apart I would have been fine with the cat and mouse at the end. Even if it had started with Wolverine tearing into the Hulk rather then vice versa. But I'm biased, Wolverine is my favorite character and I don't really like seeing him get abused and not get a bit of revenge.

This issue seemed very anticlimatic to me. On a whole though, I enjoyed ULTIMATE WOLVERINE VS. HULK. The series had great art from Yu and despite lots of flaws, some excellent moments from Lindelof - "Logan pisses off a panda". I'd certainly read another comic book from him...

in TPB form that is, since I wouldn't take the risk of getting singles.
