Self claimed fanfic critic.
Joss Whedon has a knack to basically turn all his characters into something completely different in a few stories.
I remember a Angel episode where they all were reverted to their near-adulthood personality where chaos ensued as they didn't recognize each other.

I admit I liked Torn as a story line. While I wasn't overally impressed by Emma Frost's role, Kitty's imaginary child was a fun idea, and I was intrigued by the idea of how history would have panned out if Scott had just...shut down when his powers manifested. Would the X Men have surived? I don't know, but I found it interesting. Plus Beast and Logan were fun in it.

I think it has always been that it's hard for a telepath to take control of or to read Wolverine.
She is not a telepath, but I remember when Karma tried to possess Wolverine in Uncanny X-Men Annual #10. Let's just say it did not end well.

I never was a big fun of the Cassandra Nova character in general but then my dislike of pretty much everything from Morrison's run is well documented anyway. The Wolverine regression irked me even more since those memories had been suppressed so deeply by his own power that no one had accessed them before. And suddenly as soon as Origin is released, wham he becomes a child again. It didn't make sense.

Never said it made sense, just that it was fun. ;)
If I wanted comics to always make sense, I wouldn't like Batman or Wolverine.

Comics should at least be consistent in their stories though. If it hadn't happened before, well it needs a much better explanation if you are suddenly going to include it in the story.

maybe Emma Frost/Nova is a more powerful telepath than we reconed, maybe the cuckoos were helping her, maybe something happened to bring the events forward in Wolverine's mind, Maybe she hoped to get weapon X (have Wolverine and Hank fight) and got James Howlett by accident.

There are many possible explanations. In terms of Comtinuity, Origin (The original story) had been out for a while and had previously being referenced by Wolverine's vision of a Red headed woman, who later in the story called him James.

Xavier was stated to be the most powerful mind on the planet any number of times, he couldn't do it. Phoenix is one of the most powerful forces in the universe and her mind blasts didn't shake anything loose either. This is just an example of a story being geared to a history rather then allowing it to flow on its own. When Logan gets mind blasted he goes berserk, we've seen it any number of times before.

Yes it can all be explained away. Anything can. But to not put any explanation into an event that contradicts previously established behavior is just lazy to me. It read like 'You saw Origins right? Well here's Logan being James. Aren't I clever?'

True.
But for the cuteness that is Wolverine making paper dolls (Pink Paper dolls) and not understanding Japanese (I think it's Japanese at least), I'll take a little lazy writings. At least it does have some chronology.

It was unique for certain although I was not a fan really. I can understand the appeal for people. I still thought it needed more explanation.
