I've been going thought some of the Wolverine VS threads & I have a question. It seems to me that as fans we see very little of Logans fighting skills with martial arts & more of him being a brawler. Expect when he goes to Japan do we see just how good he is why is this? I know it comes down to the writer but why as fans do we let them do this? We saw him fight Captain America & whip his butt ( I loved it) knowing that his & Logan has close to the same level of strength it came down to his fighting skills which pulled him though. As big as a fan as I am this has always bugged me so can someone please help me out with this?????? One other question why does his Strength seem to get played down? Not to mention that if you hit him it's going to hurt no matter who you are give or take but a few. This is something that has always bothered me. |

As you`ve noticed, it`s all down to the writer. Let me start off by saying that I am immensly bugged by the fact that Wolverine is always shown as the guy launching himself in a fist-fight rather than using special moves and techniques, which we know he has in the first place!..... I think it was somewhere during Hama`s run that the focus was set on his feral side, which culminatd with Logan becoming that beast-like-thing. Ever since then, he`s been a brawler, rather than the witty combatant which, again, we know he rightfully is..... Of course, he does display these skills, sometimes, in random pannels....but that`s deffinately not enough. |

Claremont has always tried to show Logan as a expert in hand to hand combat. Jason Aaron is currently trying to bring him back to his martial arts roots. Which really does make me happy. Some of his fighting experience can be found documented in his Marvel Wiki Profile. My personal favorite: Funny enough. Larry Hama was the one who created that part of Logan's history. And it is the one that is referenced the most in all of Wolverine's profiles. It's pretty much considered one of the greatest references for Wolverine when comparing him to other characters. |

Including fire arms! Haha, I think the last thing anyone who goes against Wolverine would expect is to get shot! It would make a cool situation, though... |

Excatly right being a member in a black OPs team alone would make him good with firearms & hand to hand combat. |

Yeah. So literally Logan should know just as much or more then the Punisher when it comes to this type of warfare. |

This is the thing with Wolverine: For all intents and purposes this man is likely beyond genius level. If we're working under the theory that his healing factor keeps him at the peak of physical ability, then logically that would also apply to his mind as well. His IQ is probably on par with some of the greatest minds of Marvel's Earth, statistically speaking. However that doesn't mean he utilizes it to its full abilities. Some of the brightest people in the world never live up to their ability and are perfectly happy living the simple life. Logan speaks many, many languages. He has studied with the very best martial artists from numerous disciplines all over the world, and has been trained by and worked alongside pretty much every legendary superhuman/teams you can think of. He has been conditioned and trained by numerous organizations to make him a better fighter and killer. And he has participated in countless wars, struggles, and espionage events. Really, there's almost nothing Wolverine hasn't done. His lengthened lifespan means he's experienced everything from bayonet-based combat to living with wolves. From staking vampires in the early 1900s to piloting alien space crafts. From training with ninjas to covertly infiltrating government facilities. All that I've mentioned is the definition of "He's the best there is at what he does". What he does, at its core, is him being a living weapon. The most well-trained and honed weapon on the planet. That said, the reason he doesn't often use these skills is threefold: 1) For all of Wolverine's numerous abilities, he's a man who prefers to go with his gut. He fights on instinct most of the time, whether he chooses to or otherwise. 2) Most of his memories were lost to him for the majority of his life. His training and experiences, by definition, come from memories. You can't remember the master martial arts moves you learned if can't remember being taught said moves. 3) I suspect he's become set in his ways. Even now that he has his memories back, he's fought a certain way for so long it would be difficult to overcome the instinct to fight the way he does. Which links back to reason 1. The recent Wolverine: Manifest Destiny storyline explored this concept. |

Do you think he gained new abilities as Death when he fought the Hulk and almost killed the Hulk? |
