So feel free to discuss the current issue.

I will post my review soon, I just got the comic book last night.

Very little happened in way of reveals. I know not every issue needs to be a huge reveal about Wolverine's past ala issue #33, but the best parts of this series tend to be when they do so.

My mini-review is live: 'Wolverine' #71 and 'Wolverine: Origins' #34 Reviews. In part, I write...

Remember when Joss Whedon portrayed the X-Men as a top-notch mutant commando team in Astonishing X-Men?

Remember how awesome that was?

Well, Cyclops obviously has been replaced by an incompetent Skrull as his sub-par tactical skills make this team of X-Men look like amateurs against Daken.

Oh yeah, and Daken takes center stage… again!

Clearly this issue hits a few of my pet peeves, namely giving one side a case of the stupids for the sake of a fair fight.

That said, it’s not really all that bad.

That seems like an accurate interpretation of the events of the issue. It also felt somewhat pointless. Perhaps I've just been spoiled by gems such as #33, but it seemed as if most of this issue could have been condensed into a two page fight.

I'm not saying that it's impossible for someone to try and pull an ambush on the X-Men, but after all the years of fighting the enemies they have, training in the Danger Room, and even with someone who can be just as dirty or sneaky a fighter in Daken's father...Cyclops & crew acted strictly bush league in this issue. I think Cyclops more, shall we say, rigid determination when it comes to dealing with their enemies is clouding his field leadership experience.

It was a decent issue.

Perhaps Scott has become too overwhelmed with being a leader. Having so much responsibility fall upon his shoulders has to effect him in some sort of way. The drama/events in Astonishing and the drama/events in Messiah War have like tripled. He's dealing with the Dark Avengers, Bishop, The Sisterhood, Magneto, and M Day. It hasn't been an easy month for Scott Summers and I think that reflects in all the titles he has appeared in. Comparing then and now isn't all that fair.

And he would of probably of won if Logan didn't distract him at the end. And he did it all without the help of a psychic on his team.

Strong points:
  • Emma's relationship with Norman Osborn. Looks like their fallout starts here.
  • Nick Fury and Logan's discussion on the plane.
  • Armors apology to Cyclops.
  • Canonball targeting the wrong Daken
  • Poor Nightcrawler getting a claw in the gut
