This series doesn't make sense to me. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the 2099 line, but why now? Isn't it a decade or two too late for this series? More importantly, how is this possible? The 2099 universe was at one point the true future of the Marvel universe. But constant time and cross-dimensional travel has altered the future so many times that that's no longer the case. Still, it should be fun. |

Which is why the Marvel 2099 we'll see in this series will be different in some ways, as it got a reboot ala Newuniversal. http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=20420 Edited by Brian Knippenberg, Mar 18 2009, 08:12 PM.

Are you referring to Marvel Knights 2099? That's a separate universe. Earth-928 is the original 2099 universe, Earth-2992 is the Marvel Knights 2099 universe. |

No, the Marvel 2099 Universe has been changed by the alternate effects of the present. In addition to the Peter Parker version of Spider-Man, the contemporary incarnations of Wolverine and Luke Cage will also play large roles in “Timestorm.” Readers will experience much of the 2099 world through the eyes of those three characters. “One of my favorite moments is when the present day Spider-Man, who was in the 2099 world once before, returns and realizes things aren't how they used to be,” Reed remarked. “Then he sees a poster of himself promoting this horrible product in the future, and goes, 'What is this thing they're using my image for?'” "This new status quo for the 2099 world means that some of its characters may be somewhat different than their original incarnations." Fascinating! A 3rd variant of the 2099 universe? The other two were both the true future for a time. I'm intrigued. EDIT: Oh, wow. They're even referencing the old Spider-Man/Spider-Man 2099 crossover one-shot? That's dedication. Edited by Ace, Mar 18 2009, 08:11 PM.

The issue was ok. Nothing too special. I kind of like seeing Spiderman in a straightjacket though. |
