When Runaway Molly Hayes responds to the X-Men’s
psychic invitation welcoming all mutants to a new home in San
Francisco, she declares it “Moll-ifest Destiny” and heads to the Headlands to investigate! But when she finds herself back-to-back with Wolverine, cornered by a villain with a vendetta, she might find being an X-Man isn’t just secret clubhouses and cool-looking costumes…

Runaways was always something I wanted to read but never got a chance to. It's definitely one of those series that seems interesting enough. I do like the fact that Marvel is allowing the X-Universe to merge with the other mutant titles, especially since Emma to a telepathic broadcast a few issues ago. (The only cool thing to happen in Uncanny lately)

Hopefully this issue will be fun, I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Runaways became iffy as of Joss Whedon's run. I'm a Whedonite and even I admit that. He wrote the characters well but the overall storyline just wasn't of the same quality as some of his other work. The writer to take over for Whedon was also subpar. This upcoming issue is really the first one I've looked forward to in some time, and the concept of Molly interacting with the X-Men is something I've wanted to see since the characters creation.

As for Uncanny, it's a solid enough book, and Matt Fraction is an incredible writer. It's still not nearly as strong as it could be though. It's strange actually; they keep putting these A-list writers on the title, Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction (two of my favorites, by the way)... yet the book can rarely be called "great". The title seems to be cursed, even the most high profile of writers can't seem to write a storyline that reaches above "average" in Uncanny.

Perhaps our expectations are simply too high?

Is that Molly on the cover with Wolverine? I thought she was 13 years old?

This story sounds cute though since the girl Molly Hayes has a childish crush on Wolverine. Which issue is it where she hurls him out of a church, because his appearance scares her?

:AWSM:

I liked the first and second series. This third one is seeming to be a little bit played out and the art is too Anime for me personally. But I do think it's a great concept with some truly memorable characters.

Yeah she's super strong and hits him way too hard. Of course little Molly also pretty much beats the stuffing out of Wolverine too.

The whole arc is a decent one from the first series. I think that is the only time she decks him though I don't recall. Basically she has an X-Men hero worship thing going especially for Wolverine. Then she meets him and he's not at all what she was expecting. Hence the pow after he scares her.

Here's a breakdown of the events:

East Coast/West Coast

* Originally published in: Runaways #9-12 (October 2005 - January 2006)
* Creators: writer Brian K. Vaughan, artist Adrian Alphona
* Guest appearances: Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Iron Man, Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, She-Hulk, Cloak and Dagger

Cloak, whose memories of the Runaways are restored, convinces the Runaways to travel with him to New York City and help solve a crime: someone posing as Cloak has used Mutant Growth Hormone to attack Dagger. When Chase and Nico end up in a dangerous situation with a drug dealer, Chase bluffs his way out. A relieved Nico kisses Chase - who outright rejects her by saying Gert is his girlfriend, and the only thing keeping him "good". Gert and Victor run into Spider-Man, but Nico knocks him out because Spider-Man is an adult and an Avenger. Meanwhile, after Wolverine scares Molly she punches him through a building. In the end, the Runaways defeat Dagger's attacker, and they return home. Meanwhile, someone (implied to be a resurrected Alex) says that one of them is about to die.

That reminds me. Cloak and Dagger are mutants right? (Wasn't sure if we're talking about the same Cloak. But it's been bugging me since they will be on the Dark Avengers)
