Oh man, me too. I HATE that Sara McLachlan commercial! I cried the first time I saw it, and now have to change the channel whenever it comes on. Yeah, and then I came home the other day and hubby was watching Animal Cops and I turned around and walked right back out the door. I just can't handle that stuff.

I'm currently trying to convince my hubby that we need another dog (it's not going so well), so I get emails from AdoptAPet.com like every day and every sad little face on my computer screen makes me want to run out and save them all.
The worst animal commercial i remember is one from when I was a kid. It shows a dog chained up one dark night in the back yard as the wind blows fiercely. As the camera focuses on the dog there is a voice-over of a party going on. As the guests arrive they ask what happened to that puppy the hosts used to have. The male hosts comments laughingly that the puppy is all grown up and stays in the back yard now. The commercial ends with the line that animals need warmth and companionship too.

I hate these commercials because they tear my heart out.
It's nice to hear someone else loves animals too. But what these commercials portray is the truth. There are many cruel people (pet owners) who don't believe animals have feelings or don't care. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Temple.

If I had unlimited funds I would make it a personal mission to make sure every single pet owner who abuses their pets would be brought to justice and be given the harshest punishment possible.

One of my best friends told me a horror story about a guy he knew who put out anti-freeze for stray dogs. This so called "human" would set on his porch and watch these dogs drink the anti-freeze. As you may or may not know, comsuming anti-freeze is one of the most painful ways to die because it crystalizes in the kidneys. Some people do very sadistic things that I just don't understand. I wonder how that man who've liked to drink some anti-freeze himself?

Horrible is putting it mildly, but yeah, I agree.

I just finished reading over an old isssue of Wolverine. It's issue #130 called "The Price of Survival." It has a brutal scene in it where this kid is hiding in a barn with his little dog named Jake. They are hiding from Wendigo. Earlier in the story Logan tells the kid that we (humans) are all just animals trying to do whatever it takes to survive. The kid takes this to heart. Later in the story after Logan leaves, the kid is in terror when Wendigo comes into the barn. His dog, Jake, starts growling, and the kid tries, begs, his dog to be quite. At one point the kid tells his dog, "don't make me," hinting that he (the kid) is going to kill his own dog if the dog doesn't keep quite. It's kind of disturbing. Logan finally returns to fight Wendigo, setting the barn on fire. Logan is able to save the kid, but we only see the kid holding his dog's collar, confirming that the kid did in fact kill his own dog to survive.
