I love Logan in the Na issues, it gives him a diff team personality.
With the Na, he's with his drinking buddies, with X-men family, X-force a covert op killin squad.
I agree, but there's a bit too much oversaturation of Wolverine in the various other titles. And too many X-titles in general. The coming months are going to be especially bad as they go into Wolverine film mode.
That is my point. We need maybe 5 x-title/Wolverine books total.

Well lets see here. At the moment we have (not counting limited series/one-shots)... Uncanny X-Men, X-Men: Legacy, Astonishing X-Men, X-Factor, Young X-Men (soon to be canceled and replaced by New Mutants), X-Force, Cable, Deadpool, Wolverine (soon to be Dark Wolverine), Wolverine: Origins, Wolverine: Weapon X, Wolverine: First Class, and the upcoming Uncanny X-Men: First Class, Exiles, and X-Men Forever ongoings.

So that's... 15. Wow, yeah, a bit excessive. Lets see what one could change to limit those series. Deadpool isn't really an X-character these days so we could take his book out of this category. Cable could be folded into X-Force. Wolverine, Wolverine: Origins, and Wolverine: Weapon X could be folded into a three times monthly Wolverine ongoing ala Amazing Spider-Man.

For cancellations... You could cancel Astonishing X-Men as it's hardly a necessary X-book anymore. Exiles could and should be canceled as the concept became stale towards the end, and then Claremont drove it into the ground with New Exiles. And X-Men Forever just shouldn't exist to begin with.

If Marvel made those changes we'd have a total of... 8 X-books. That would be a bit better.

I agree. I think New Avengers and X-Force are the only team books Logan should be involved with. I mean they could easily make it convincing to have him only randomly appear in Uncanny, but always allude that he has somewhere else to be. Or they could briefly mention that "Logan seems a bit more busy these days..." and assume that he is just off on another New Avengers mission, when he is really doing something in X-Force. I really do miss the days when if Logan appeared in one series, it was reflected in the X-Men book by hinting that he was missing or away.

On one hand I agree that there are too many Wolverine titles/one-shot/mini-series out there, especially for the devoted fanbase to keep up with, but I guess they have to be doing well, otherwise they wouldn't publish so many just to lose money.

For me personally, I've reached an age (and financial level) where I choose to go with the titles or arcs based on each character that appeals to me most, depending on creative team and the hook of the story itself. Because, unfortunately, I can't afford it all like when I was single and without a child.

For the time-being, after Old Man Logan concludes I'll be picking up Wolverine: Weapon X, First Class, and the occasional mini or one-shot. I'm less interested in Wolverine among the team settings these days. There is also the possibility that I'll check out Dark Wolverine though.

I believe the overwhelming influx of Wolverine one-shots, specials, and limited series are in direct relation to the fact that Mark Millar has had the Old Man Logan storyline going in the regular series. Normally they'd insert most of the stories that have become one-shots/special into the occasional gaps between story arcs. Or books like Wolverine: Manifest Destiny would have been one of those story-arcs.

However because Old Man Logan is what it is, that isn't the case. I'm sure it will pass now that Wolverine: Weapon X is starting up though.

I agree. I have this feeling that once Wolverine: Weapon X kicks off and after the movie is released, we'll start to see a decrease in the frequency of one-shots and mini-series.

I have no problem affording all the comics and I get them simply because I'm a completest. But I've certainly noticed a huge increase. Last year at this time there were only 11-13 X-titles a month. This year up to 27. Of course I'm counting a bunch that are very very loosely definable as X-titles like Deadpool and Captain Britain & MI:13. Still it's more then doubled in a year.

Logan becomes a champion fighter and is now called "The Black Dragon". This is after training with a martial artist master, and rediscovering how to bring out the potential he had all along. He mentions that he has had lots and lots of training before, but he also notes that this master is superior to all previous teachers.

This is a huge upgrade in Wolverine chronology. Because now the story will continued to be told in "Wolverine: Weapon X" and some of the other Uncanny X-Men titles. So now we call look forward to better Wolverine stories, that don't focus on his healing factor and the boring "Wolverine injury" of the day. I bet you were getting sick of seeing Logan blown up or mutilated right?
just wanted to point out that it actually happened in the mini-series Wolverine: Manifest Destiny..
hope this gets contiued soon with Wolverine Weapon X..:D

Considering Aaron wrote Mainfest Destiny and is doing Weapon X, it seems likely it will get mentioned eventually. I know Aaron doesn't want to keep retreading the same ground but I expect to see it if Weapon X goes long enough.
