While Astonishing X-Men is getting better with the last few issues, I still think the Joss Whedon/John Cassaday run is pretty hard to beat.

Don't get me wrong. I love Warren Ellis. I think Planetary is one of the best comics I've ever read. But his run just hasn't wowed me yet and, frankly, Simone Bianchi's artwork is a little to elegant for my tastes.

Anyone else want to weigh in?

I wish astonishing would be cancelled and Wolvie would stop appearing in Uncanny.

X-force leader, NA member, 4 solo titles and a million one shots and minis is plenty.

Why is Logan's ears sticking out from under his cowl ? The art is really good, but I can't get over this design flaw.

I have a real soft spot for Warren Ellis, I think he's a very talented writer. One of the best. That said, his Astonishing run isn't the strongest in the world. It's a very bizarre concept, which is contrary to most of Ellis's Marvel work. He writes the characters well, but the storyline itself is... off.

Hm, perhaps it's time I finally check this Planetary series out. I have been looking for something new. And how can one turn down Warren Ellis and John Cassaday?

Awesome series. Buy it today.

But be warned. The final issue (an epilogue) is about three years late.

I like them both the same actually.

Whedon had his moments. But I like a lot of things Warren Ellis did with the team.

Planetary was/is a great series though it seemed to sort of just trickle off and die there at the end.

As for which I prefer, kind of a toss up. No secret I'm not a Whedon fan really. His stuff was ok but I did not love it like so many others did. I feel more or less the same on Ellis. Has some good parts and bad parts.
