"House of M" was beautifully written. I'm so glad that Bendis wrote that story, and let the Scarlet Witch give Logan his past back. Apparently some other stuff happened, but Wolverine was all I cared about. So many different writers have delved into Logan's past, with no real explanation of how we were supposed to know this stuff.

Logan's not supposed to remember anything. His memory begins with his escape from the laboratory. It was such a simple rule. But the rule was broken every other month it seemed like. They wrote so many stories about his past that they started to contradict themselves.

And DiG... pulling his hair out all these years to make sense of it all for everyone else. Most of what I know about Wolverine is from DiG's chronology. I bet he drinks alot.

Hama, to his credit, tried to explain this problem when he took over the reigns of Wolverine, but he blew it. Big time. He made matters even worse with his dreaded "memory implants". There implants on top of implants, and even Xavier couldn't reverse the tampering he said. But at least you could look back at all the discrepencies and at blame it on the implants. Hama created an out for all the sloppy writing that had come before and after him.

Now Way is tying all the loose ends together. And it's nothing but loose ends. I may not agree with some of it, or any of it, but I didn't get the job, he did. I would argue that Way has the final say in what the chronology looks like, not all the other writers who never paid attention to continuity. He's stepping on alot of other stories' toes in the process, but I give him his due for attempting to set the record straight once and for all. When he writes about Logan's past, it's based on the truth. Wanda said so.

99% of the world's lamest Mutants lost their powers so Logan's past could be set in stone as far as I'm concerned.

Silver Fox really died like Claremont and Sienkiewicz said (tough luck, Larry). The resurrection and origin of Cyber. The Devil's Brigade. Team X. Carbonadium. Elizabeth Hudson. Daken's claws bonded with Muramasa steel. I like what's being revealed and how Way is revealing it.

A friend also pointed out to me an interesting note: For the most part, only Logan and the reader are aware of Logan's past after "House of M". Logan hasn't really opened up to anyone regarding what he remembers.

I don't really think Origins is the turning point in Logan's character developement. The real meat is where this is all leading, and what other writers in the future will pen for Wolverine when they can't muck up his past anymore. The character will only move foreward from then on. No more looking back.

That's gonna rule, true believers.

I was more reflecting back to how I had felt back then. Apologies around for any misunderstanding.
Brian knows how much I love his input on here. Right Brian? As DiG said, the thread can be found here if you feel like venting about the bad points of Origins.

I agree 100%. If everything is fake then what is there to actually believe in? I lost interest in this series around this point.

Yeah. Ace also said this too. There is absolutely no reason why we can't read interesting Wolverine stories, just because his Origin is revealed. Jason Aaron is actually working on stories taking place in the present, unhindered by what has been revealed in the past. And he is doing a great job of it.

So now that the series has concluded, and a new selection of Wolverine titles has started,
my opinion, for what it's actually worth, is that the entire series was very entertaining.
Without getting into details and petty squabbles over individual story arcs, artists, writers,
nitpicking adfenauseum, I think the character development and story telling of Wolverine
has progressed at the proper pace. We still don't know all about the character. And I
think that is a good thing. Regardless of how one feels about the secrets revealed, or
those that took a twist, it is development, and like a fictional character should be, still
a bit of a mystery. If we all knew what made Wolverine tick, we'd loose interest in
his adventures, and move on to solving the puzzle of Speedball....
As an entire series run, my score would be 4 out of five stars.

Always good to get different opinions. Those who post the most on here tend to agree with each other most of the time so there is no place for actual debate on the titles. As is well documented, I did not personally like the series or the writing. I have no issues with not revealing everything about Logan, in fact I think they had already shown far too much. My problem was more about how he was written and what he was shown having done destroyed much of what made the character likable to me in the first place.
