They are a dying breed. The once called next step in human evolution, the beings that would make humans extinct. Homo superior….mutants. Gifted with a special gene in their dna from birth, these individuals have…had special powers. There were thousands of them, Tens of thousands, now due to the humans themselves and one of their own, only 198 of those who posses the gene and still have their powers are left. Yet, despite the trials, despite looking at the face of extinction, some of them fight on. These brave mutants are called the X-men, super heroes to some, kinsmen to others, sworn foes and dangerous weapons to their enemies. They made many over the years, from the simple mutant hater to galactic warlords alike. Mostly the X-men take care of their foes and make sure they will not resurface ever again….but like a phoenix coming out of his ashes, some enemies will never stop, will never die, until their task is complete. Breakworld 12 hours ago Former citadel of powerlord Kruun 13.14 local time Breakworld is not a happy place. Tall gray and black buildings tear through the orange sky. Many bodies litter the streets of this planet’s cities (despite S.W.O.R.D’s new policy) and it’s inhabitants are still following the ways of violence and death. Still, with the opening of new hospitals, schools and even a single library in the capitol, things are looking up. But, like months before, the citadel was under attack by a single foe. ‘Fall back, fall back!’ one of the armored human guards shouted, waving his arm to the survivors of the third wave SWORD had sent at this new threat. The guard wore a symbol which marked him as a captain, shooting a few rounds at the incoming attacker, unseen due to the orange sand clouds, and ducked behind a piece of debris from a fallen pillar. Left and right guards fell to the ground, being hit by a red particle beam, able to tear them apart. The Captain looked over the piece of debris, seeing the sand cloud coming closer. He panicked, this was his first life action, he only got into SWORD due to connections and the lack of new recruits SWORD had after the Skrulls invasion on Earth. (Read Secret Invasion.) ‘Sir!’ one of his soldiers shouted, jumping over the debris. ‘We lost half our platoon and we didn’t even HIT him, orders?!’ The captain thought to himself a moment. ‘We fall back to the citadel and call for assistance from the planet’s orbit, close the doors we go, move move move!’ The soldier nodded, following orders. Despite being a greenhorn in these situations, Carl Raynor, for that was his name, was still a leader, and a leader needed to remain calm so the job would be done. When Carl got up, he froze when he saw the enemy in front of him. Remembering his training, Captain Raynor shot his weapon at the enemy, hitting him in the chest area….to no avail. The enemy grabbed the captain by his neck, lifting him off the ground with no effort. Up close Carl could clearly see his enemy. He was a man, not just any man, but a human male, completely covered in a golden coating. The coating seemed to keep shining despite the lasers rounds shot at the man, or the dust clouds. Captain Raynor knew most enemies of SWORD, but for the life of him (which most likely was going to end soon) he could not remember this man. ‘Who….’ Carl gurgled, finding it harder to remain conscious from suffocation. ‘ are you?’ The golden man closely examined the Captain. ‘Our name is Collective…’ the golden man replied. ‘ and we have come to ask you a question.’ ‘Question…?’ Carl asked. ‘Where.Is. Piotr Nikolaievitch Rasputin?.’ 'Unfinished business' part 1: home coming. Earth San Francesco, California, Usa X-men HQ. 23.13 local time Now ‘Hate neighborhood watch…’ one of the two men said with a thick Australian accent in the dark computer room. ‘I know…’ the other replied, drinking a can of cold cola from the small fridge next to them. ’But you gotta love the drinks though.’ The man who complaint sighed, leaning back in the chair. His name was Anthony Durgrath and his features were rugged from his years of experience at working on an oil drilling rigs. His red hair and beard stood out in the dark, his green eyes adding more to it. ‘You shouldn’t be complaining Tony, back with my pals in New York we didn’t have a mini fridge.’ Anthony’s companion grinned. The other man had brown hair, brown eyes, a kind and friendly face. He was around the same age as Anthony, around his mid thirties, and like Anthony he was…an X-man. George wasn’t just an X-man, like Logan he was also part of the ‘Rebel’ Avengers and unknown to Anthony, George was part of X-force. The two men were on guard duty, staying with the monitors in the computer room in case the sensor went off for a threat to the city or the headquarters. An ungrateful job, but somebody had to do it since most of the x-men were off somewhere else. ‘Well, least those nights you have action…right now I could’ve been home with my wife and kids, but no, I’m stuck here looking at f***ing webcams..’ Tony grumbled. ‘I know…least the cola is cool though, pun intended.’ George took another sip from the can. ‘…I think I am starting to dislike you.’ Durgrath glared. ‘You're not the first to say that.’ Gargan replied with a smirk. Durgrath was about to make a snide comment when both men looked back at the door, seeing a young teenage boy walking in his shorts and shirt. ‘Are You two still arguing?’ the sandy blode young man asked tiredly. ‘shouldn’t you be in bed Arny?’ Gargan took a other sip. ‘It’s Aurick..’ the boy replied. ‘ or Qwert.’ ‘What kind of code name is Qwerty anyway kid?’ Tony asked. ‘What kind of code name is ‘Loam’ ?’ Aurick asked back. ‘Let’s be honest here…Time-Warrior is a kick a** codename and Time-Warrior wants to know why Arny isn’t sleeping.’ Gargan commented. ‘Aurick.’ Qwert corrected. ‘Whatever..’ Gargan replied. The boy sat down, pointing at the fridge. George nodded, taking a cola out, throwing it over to the kid. ‘I’m bored.’ Qwert stated. ‘ And since Professor McCoy is…occupied with his girlfriend…’ ‘With occupied you mean having se-‘ Gargan started. ‘Damnit Gargan, shut up!’ Loam exploded. ‘Allright…’ George continued drinking his cola. ‘Well as I said..’ Qwerty opened his can. ‘ I was bored and I couldn’t sleep, so I went here to see how you two are doing.’ ‘ Fine…don’t know how Logan can hold out with Time-bozo over here.’ Loam answered. ‘Lots of beer and having experiences with Spider-man’s witty banter.’ Gargan threw the now empty can at the bin. The can missed it’s target, clattering and rolling a bit away. ‘Damn I suck…’ George uttered. ‘You have to go pick it up.’ Aurick stated. ’or-‘ George raised his right hand, the can rewinding back into his hand. ‘That.’ George grinned. ‘Wait…’ Aurnick said, looking down on the floor, his left hand typing in the air as if on a keyboard. ‘. I’m getting a message from S.W.O.R.D H. Q.…something’s flying this way!’ ‘What way kid?’ Loam asked. ‘Straight at Us!’ Meanwhile, 10 minutes with car from the X-men HQ. 23.14 local time An old car was driving in the traffic of the city. It’s driver showing signs of extreme tiredness, but also a small glitter of hope. He looked back, smiling at his now asleep three year old daughter. He came a long way to see the X-men, and hopefully with their help and protection, he and his daughter wouldn't have to run anymore. He stopped at a red light, mumbling ‘almost there Jason…’ to himself. He looked up, closing his eyes a little…but fluttered back open when he saw a large shining object from the sky flying towards the city. ‘That’s no falling star….’ He thought. Downtown 23.15 ‘So then I said to Mister Summers, you look a little like a dork with those glasses on!’ a young blond girls giggled, drinking a beverage with a smaller hairy man and a tall friendly looking man. The shorter one laughed, his cowboy hat, white shirt and jeans with a X-belt adding a rather weird sight at San Francesco’s night life. ‘Cyke let ya say that darlin’? ‘ Logan asked the girl. ‘Aha, and he didn’t had anything else to say, like he had to go somewhere in a hurry all of a sudden, does he do that with you to?’ she asked her two companions. ‘Da…mostly after I beat him in chess.’ The taller man replied with a smile. Molly enjoyed hanging out with the X-men, especially these two. Logan, despite his gruff looks and personality to those that do not know him, is quite a nice guy, same with peter. Though she knew despite the charade, peter has not gotten over his loss of Kitty Pryde yet. Molly never met Kitty herself, but if it would make a big man like Pete cry, she must’ve meant the world to him. Suddenly her cell phone went off. Molly picked it up, the caller being listed as ‘Tranq’ a other x-men, woman actually. ‘Hey Brooke, what’s wrong?’ ‘Oh my god Molly, just look up.’ Brooke said excitedly over the phone. Molly blinked. ‘what?’ ‘Just look up!’ Brooke shouted. Molly did as instructed, and gasped at the sight. Logan sniffed, looking up as well. ‘ That thing doesn’t smell right…’ he commented. ‘How can you smell it Logan?’ Colossus asked, looking up as well. ‘ it’s still 50 000 feet above us?’ ‘Cause I’m smellin’ it from down here means it’s something emitting with a lot of energy to it…smells like ozone…..’ ‘Ozone, as in the hole in the ozone, ozone?’ Molly asked. ‘Yup…’ Logan nodded. ‘ And I remember where I smelled that the last time…’ X-men H.Q. 23.16 A ringtone sounded next to the bed. Groggily the woman tried to pick it up blindly, her green hair covering her face. ‘If this isn’t about a super weapon that is going destroy earth I’m going to hang up….’ She mumbled. ‘Agent Brand, we got a incoming bogey of unknown origin coming at your direction, we just spotted it 2 minutes ago!’ the voice on the other end replied. ‘You should’ve told me 1 minute and 59 seconds ago!’ she shouted, sitting up. ‘Get a S.W.O.R.D battle group down here and call Mister Fantastic, I’ll try to hold it off with the X-men here.’ As she got out of bed, putting her clothes back in, a long powerful yawn sounded. ‘A problem Abigail?’ the blue furred ‘monster’ stretched, before slinking out of the bed and putting his costume on. ‘Yes Hank…’ she replied, loading her hand pistol. ‘ and it’s heading right for us.’ Time-Warrior and Loam, both in their costumes, ran out of the building, seeing the object land on the other side of the street with a soft thud. Both gasped as they saw the dust clearing… It was a man…a golden men. ‘Ah ****…’ George muttered. ‘ it’s the Collective..’ ‘The what?’ Loam asked. ‘The Collective, it’s supposed to be a collection of mutant energies that come together after M-day, or some **** like that.’ Time-Warrior grabbed his katanas. ‘Ah damn….fought it before?’ Time-Warrior nodded. ‘With Logan and with the New Avengers before the Civil War, and it’s supposed to be in the sun now.’ ‘Doesn’t look crispy to me.’ Loam changed into obsidian black asphalt rock slowly, like the street below them. The man looked up, getting on his feet. ‘We are looking for Peter Rasputin.’ It said with a non emotional voice. ‘Here he is!’ George cried out, porting in front of it, stabbing his twin katanas in the Collective’s chest. ‘You are not peter Rasputin…’ it simply stated before swatting Time-Warrior away. ‘Sorry!’ Loam shouted, punching the collective square in the face. ‘Peter is not in right now, can I take a message?!’ The golden man merely swatted him away as well with no effort. ‘Where is Peter RaspAAAAARGH!’ The collective looked down, seeing sharp claws coming out of his chest. He looked back, seeing a man with claws out of his knuckles stabbing at him again. ‘You lookin’ for Pete bub?!’ Logan shouted, stabbing the collective in the face. ‘He ain’t here!’ The man looked at Wolverine for a moment. ‘What are you lookin’ aAAAAAAAA!!.’ Wolverine question as his adversary flung him away. Wolverine flew through the air, hitting a brick wall head on. ‘Argnn……hate magnetism….’ Before the Collective could move to finish Wolverine off however, waves of water hit its body square on, causing it to fall off it’s feet.’ ‘Sprite at your service!’ Molly shouted, using the fire hydrants to fight the Collective. The collective however soon got up its feet however, and began walking towards her despite the pressure. Molly gave it everything she had, but still the thing came at her. In a block around the corner, the man with his daughter were watching the terrible fight. ‘Oh no…’ he muttered. ‘This can't be happening…they’re supposed to protect us!’ ‘Daddy…’ the daughter said as she held her father close. .‘Don’t worry pumpkin, I’m here…’ Jason said comfortingly as he kissed her forehead, holding her closer to him. ‘Excuse me sir?’ a young brunette asked behind them. When the man looked at her, he couldn’t explain it…but felt very relaxed. ‘Yes miss?’ he asked. ‘Are you a mutant?’ The woman asked. He didn’t know why, but he felt he could trust her, he hadn't felt this good for months. ‘Yes…’ ‘Maybe it’s best that you go help, I’ll take care of your daughter..’ The man looked back at the fight, seeing Time-Warrior and Wolverine attacking the golden man again. The man looked back at Tranq, nodding unsurely. ‘I will.’ Jason slowly gave his daughter over to the woman, as he dropped to the ground his body shifting and changing in indescribable ways. The creature that rose in Jason's place was of no specific type it was a meld of various forms. Standing over seven and half feet tall, the back body, lower torso, and upper legs of the creature resembled those of a bear, the chest and arms were massive like those of an ape, the head was shrouded in mane of a lion, and the face, and tail fur coat coloring of a tiger, ,the lower legs, were those of a bull that ended in hooves, the shoulders were broad and bull-like and a massive set of long horns adorned the creatures shaggy head. When the little girl saw the creature that her father turned into her eyes lit up and clapped her hands and gave a cry of glee. "Poofy," she exclaimed. The horrific creature turn its monstrous head back at the little girl and one could see a slight smirk that curled into a snarl on it animal like visage. Turning back to the fight the creature let out a blood-curdling roar as it charged into the fray. Its mighty roar stunned the Collective for a moment, giving the creature time to slash a large gaping wound at the collective's mid-section, before and tackling the golden man into the side of building. Seconds later the shaggy monster emerged from the debris and approached Time-Warrior, Logan, Molly and Loam. ‘Whoa…’ Time-Warrior said. ‘Nice tackle there pal.’ Loam got up. ‘where did you come from?’ ‘ I.I..I only want to help.’ Jason replied in a growling voice. ‘That’s good sir, because the fight isn’t over yet!’ Molly pointed towards the building where the golden man got tackled in to. The golden man came out of it, it’s wounds mysteriously gone, looking at the X-men. ‘You are not Peter Rasputin…’ It said coldly. ‘Great…’ Logan SNIKT his claws back up. ‘Anybody got any ideas?’ ‘I have.’ Said a voice from behind them. The group looked back, seeing Agent Brand with Beast carrying a big gun with Qwerty, A grey-white Gorilla, Colossus, and three other young women, hovering above the street covered in blue and purple swirling plasma and a squadron of S.W.O.R.D hover-copters behind them. ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, distract it so the professor and the kid can do their thing!’ ‘My name is Qwerty Miss Brand.’ Qwerty replied calmly, helping set up the gun with Beast. ‘1 minute Agent Brand.’ Beast answered. ‘Alright people, One minute!’ she shouted, firing her gun at the Collective, as the grey-white Gorilla and Colossus charged at the golden man. Bolgani, for that is the grey-white gorilla’s name, charged at Collective, tackling it head on, Bolgani swung over the Collective, holding its arm behind him, as Colossus began punching the Collective in the chest. The unphased Collective simply stared Colossus, and shrugged Bolgani off him.. ‘You are the one we seek.’ ‘What do you want from me?’ Colossus asked, stopping. ‘To bring back the mutant race…’ TBC Edited by Templedog, Apr 8 2009, 04:22 AM.
